Make-up of the Day: Navy Smoky Eye

Tuesday, September 11th 2012 0

For today's make-up, I wanted to try a really dramatic eye. I'd been watching The Only Way is Essex in the morning and liked the way that Lucy Mecklenburgh often had a block colour on her eyes so I decided to try it for myself.

Using a navy eyeshadow from MAC called Contrast, I coated my entire lid.

Next, I took a flesh coloured eyeshadow from MAC called Kid and created a thick, fluffy contour shape.

Once these two separate parts of my make-up were complete, I blended the edge of the navy eyeshadow up into the fleshy contour. This meant that my eye make-up had no harsh edges and had something to cling to when I blended it up and out.

To finish this look, I added a splash of a gold eyeshadow called Woodwinked on the inner corner of my lower lash line. Then, I  lined the rest of my lower lash line with navy.

One last touch? It has to be a set of lashes from Peaches and Cream. I applied a smooth flick of liquid liner and added a short, full set of No.26 lashes to my eyes.

Lucy likes to keep her base quite fresh when she wears her eye make-up so dark. I kept my blusher to a soft pink and used a neutral lip gloss.

This make-up look meant that I won the Crown Brush #makeupmonday this week! Do any of you enter it? It’s a competition on Twitter every week in which Crown Brushes award the best make-up look ¬£20 to spend on brushes of their choice. Make sure you follow @CrownBrushUK and submit your photos on a Monday.

(P.S How pretty is my bow tie? It was made for me by Kate and Big Mare at Peaches!)
