Nicola Roberts' cosmetic line

As someone with especially pale skin, I was excited to try Nicola Roberts' Dainty Doll range. For anyone that thought this Girls Aloud member had merely put her name to something for the sake of it - think again. The range is simple, easy to use and has something for everyone.

Finding a shade of foundation that exactly matches my skin tone can be a nightmare, so knowing that Nicola had the same problem and worked to resolve it was reassuring. Luckily, she’d done just that and I was delighted to find a shade to suit me.

Foundation

Opting for the Dainty Doll liquid foundation in 003, I was really impressed with the results. The foundation has a really creamy, fresh consistency not too dissimilar to BB cream. Although it offered a medium coverage, it still looked and felt very dewy (note: don’t mix highlighters into this foundation, it is light enough as it is). Fragrance free, it is great for anyone wanting something nice and simple. It would also be great for dry skin types, too, as it felt very hydrating; oilier skin types may wish to seal this with a setting powder.

Pops of colour

Once I’d found the perfect base, I explored with other pieces from the range. The blushers were a firm favourite of mine; some of them, such as the lilac one below, came in a very light colour which was suitable for highlighting, too. I used an alternative pink cheek colour and dusted a touch of this blusher onto my cheekbone as a highlighter. As well as including fairer colours like this one, it seems that Nicola has chosen to contrast her pale skin by including some brighter colours in the range. The likes of her eyeliner pencil in 004 (a bold turquoise) was great for making my eyes pop.

Not fair skinned? There’s still something for you...

If you’re not a fair skinned girl and are still interested to try Dainty Doll, I would absolutely recommend their gorgeous range of lipsticks. I’ve tried a few now and find that they are creamy, long lasting and in an array of shades – perfect for all skin tones. The coral-red ‘Saucy Sailor’ is my top pick.
