A light, natural oil for your hair

This week, I've been trying out Macadamia Oil. For a while now I've been using Moroccanoil and so I wanted to experiment with this brand and see what the differences were.

Perfect for trying a bit of everything, I’ve been using the Canteen Gift Box. It contains the following:

  • Healing Oil Treatment
  • Rejuvenating Shampoo
  • Deep Repair Mask
  • Oil Infused Comb

The first thing that really struck me about Macadamia was that the oil was quite light. It was lovely because I still got a rich, nourished feeling in my hair but it didn’t feel at all heavy or weighed down. Also, although it was slightly fragranced, there wasn’t a strong smell from the oil. With this in mind I think it would make a great unisex purchase.

Healing Oil Treatment

Great as a pre-blowdry oil, this was rich and easily absorbed. One thing I would note is that one pump dispenses a lot of oil so 1-2 pumps should be enough per application.

Rejuvenating Shampoo

This was lovely. The shampoo felt very rich – I could tell it was completely infused with oil. As a result of this, I did find it quite difficult to build up a lather. I’d recommend using quite a fair amount of product and washing twice; once to cleanse the hair and a second time to really let the oil work.

Deep Repair Mask

An effective moisturising treatment, this was super creamy and massaged well into my hair. It was lovely on my scalp; very hydrating and my skin felt really soft after using it. This was my favourite product from the range.

Oil Infused Comb

I loved this oil infused comb. With the changes in weather we’ve been experiencing, I’m sure I’m not the only one who has seen humid air wreak havoc on their hair. Keeping this comb in my bag was a great way to top up on moisture levels without having to lug an oil around (also, oils are lovely before bed but not the most convenient in the workplace!). It was slim and light, fitting neatly into my handbag side pocket.

In general, I think Macadamia would be an ideal unisex purchase or great for anyone with normal or fine hair. It is absolutely nourishing but at the same time it doesn’t weigh hair down. Finer hair types or even those with shorter hair could use this oil without feeling too over-loaded, and as with lots of other oils it is great for multi-purpose use. This particular set comes with a fantastic cosmetic case, too, making it a fabulous Christmas present idea.
