bareMinerals: An Education

My latest beauty discovery

bareMinerals is a brand I'd not used lots of before; their rosy blusher, The French Kiss, is among my favourites, and I've used many an eyeshadow of theirs. For the past month, however, I have stayed loyal to regular use of bareMinerals make-up to test their claims that their make-up actually helps your skin.

Booking into the Covent Garden boutique a few weeks ago, I was given a step-by-step run through of skincare and make-up by the lovely team and Anna Hirsch from bareMinerals. First of all we went through skincare and I found my favourite new beauty essential – the Active Cell Renewal Night Serum. Slightly thick and oily in texture, the serum sinks easily into skin but still feels rich and soothing upon application.

Next we delved into make-up which is where my powder phobia was abolished (I’d never favoured mineral foundations). After using the original bareMinerals foundation, my skin had medium coverage and looked very fresh. I especially loved the brushes – they’re very soft and firm and they¬†do recommend that you get a brush to make the most of your foundation. I still had that dewy look despite having used a powder, something I didn’t think was possible. Here’s a rundown of my favourite products:

All of the products are natural and contain healing agents. One of my main skin concerns is redness, and not only did the cream concealer (above) cover my redness but it still felt light on my skin. Although all of the formulas are very light in texture, coverage lasts all day; the eyelid primer, in particular, is fantastic at ensuring that eyes don’t smudge after a busy day.

If I would recommend one thing to anyone unsure it would be to book into a Bare Escentuals for a make-under. Hearing about the products, from ingredients to benefits, is fascinating, and they also show you step-by-step how to use each thing. In terms of quick and simple make-up with maximum impact, bareMinerals is unbeatable.

Looking to try something this Christmas? Let your first step be their Get Started Complexion Kit – complete with all of the essentials for a perfect base and a tutorial DVD, it is the perfect place to start your bareMinerals education.
