DIY Kawaii Nails

A cute Christmas gift

There's nothing that quite shows love like a home made gift. This year, why not get crafty and make your special someone a set of custom nails?

By scouring eBay, I’ve found everything you’ll need to make a unique set of kawaii nails. From stick on art slices to gift bags and nail glue, you can make a gorgeous present for just a few pounds.

Here’s what you’ll need (click each item to find the eBay sellers that I used):

What to do:

1. Apply 2 coats of colour to each nail.

2. Lay out the kawaii shapes that you wish to use, flat on a surface nearby.

3. Do each nail step by step from here. Paint a third coat of colour onto the nail, and straight away begin applying fimo slices so that they will stick when drying. Lick the pad of your finger and lift a slice so that it is flat to your finger; then, drop it straight down onto the wet nail. This way the slice is the only thing touching the polish, meaning no mess or smudges.

4. After leaving your nails to dry overnight, add the finishing touches. Pack them in a drawstring bag, complete with a nail glue and a little nail file. Tweezerman currently have a Harajuku Lovers nail range that would be just perfect for this; try one of their mini nail files as a finishing touch (very kawaii). You may also want to include some spare fimo slices just in case.

There you have it! A Christmas gift that is low cost, fun to get stuck into and made with care. Think of it as the beauty alternative to a festive Christmas jumper…
