SPF20 Skin Complexion Corrector

You'll already know by now that I am a huge fan of BB Creams - what's not to love about a simple, multi-use product that combines coverage and skincare? So when I heard that Origins were branching out into CC Creams (colour correctors to those of you who've missed them), I was intrigued to see how theirs would compare.

Designed for those who live a city lifestyle, the commuter in me was instantly on board. The smart technology behind the CC Cream means that it will react upon impact, helping to protect against damage from things such as pollution and UV rays when the skin becomes exposed to them.

Here’s the science behind it:

  • The active¬†ingredients in the formula respond to external cues from the environment to protect your skin from the ills of city living
  • Antioxidants from Green Tea are released to block free radicals
  • Vitamin C and E protects against pollution and ozone
  • Algae works to hydrate the skin upon impact with free radicals

I had one initial reservation; the fact that it comes in just 2 shades. For me, a girl with milk bottle skin, a small shade range is never a good thing. However, I have to admit that I was proved wrong when I used the ‘Light Medium’ shade because it matched my skin tone very well. I’ll be interested to hear how appropriate ‘Medium/Deep’ is for darker skins.

Compared to a BB Cream, you shouldn’t expect nearly as much coverage. A CC Cream does what it says on the tin – works to even out minor skin discolouration such as blotchiness – and should be used in conjunction with a suitable base. However, the added skincare benefits from this one make it a worthy investment for anyone battling the grime of city living every day.

Smarty Plants CC Cream will be available from August 2013 at £28.00. Are you more of a country girl, not needing this level of protection? Their BB Cream is the same price and might be better for you.
