8 Hour Challenge

When it comes to affordable, efficient and simple skincare, few brands do it as well as Lanolips.

A firm favourite of mine, this Australian brand have lanolin at the base of all of their products.

For one week, I took part in the Lanolips 8 Hour Challenge, pledging to monitor the results of using their 101 Ointment – a multi-use product – on my lips.

What I found first off is that the 8 hour challenge lasts longer than expected. When applying the ointment before bed, you will find that you awaken to an oily residue – the balm will stay put and continue to hydrate well into the morning. I love the texture of this ointment; it’s like a waxier Eight Hour Cream from Elizabeth Arden, meaning that you get all of the hydration and also extra control for precise application. With this in mind, I found myself cheating and sneaking a layer or two onto my cuticles as well. (I liked the stiffness of the formula because it didn’t bleed, meaning that I could still check my phone without smothering the screen in oil.)

If you want a runnier, glossier consistency, warm the ointment between finger tips prior to application. I did this when applying a touch to my elbows, the part of my body which always feels very dry.

Overall – my lips felt plump, hydrated and soft after 8 hours of use. I’d definitely recommend this as a handbag item – great for any eventuality and especially useful if you’ve got young children to keep an eye on.

Lanolips 101 Ointment is available at Boots and Victoria Health.

P.S Want something slightly balmier? You will LOVE their Golden Ointment. Or if, like me, your hands are your area of need, be sure to try their Rose Balm Intense.
