Revives overworked hair

When the Glamour beauty team named this as the product of the month in the September '13 issue, I knew it was something that I had to investigate. If there is one lady who never seems to have a bad hair day, it's their Beauty Director, Alessandra Steinherr.

So what’s the fuss about? This cute little mascara wand is actually a hair fix that fits into your handbag – no, really! Designed to sculpt flyaway hairs into place, it doubles up as a quick shine booster and precision tool, too.

The texture is almost a hybrid between the holding power of a spray and the smoothing of an oil. What’s more, the brush is big and thick but stacked with lots of tiny bristles, meaning that the finished effect is a soft sculpt that barely looks tampered with at all.

I’ve been using mine to perfect a sleek, tidy pony tail for those meetings at work, and also to gently brush out any stray lumps when I’ve opted for a higher pony. I’ve also found a personal use for it – it is brilliant for helping me to tame a cowlick I have on the left hand side of my parting. Often after a blow dry I find the baby hairs to be unruly here and sticking up into all sorts of directions, but a lick of this wand and I’m good to go.

Were the Glamour team right? Of course they were! Trust me, you’ll be needing one of these to see you through the winter. Besides, how many hair products can you think of that pack a punch at the same time as being handbag friendly?

John Frieda’s Full Repair Touch-Up Flyaway Tamer is available from Boots at £10.99.
