Cream to powder texture

This autumn, Bourjois are back with an array of jewel toned eyeshadow shades in a 24 hour lasting formula.

Described as a ‘cream to powder’ formula, these shades are velvety in texture and super-easy to blend. What I like in particular is that fingers are more than adequate to achieve a soft, smoky look. Another bonus is that the formula enables a satin, shimmer finish with none of the glittery drop-down that can come with loose pigments.

Now for a comparison which must be made. The name (and packaging) do resemble the Maybelline Color Tattoo shades but it must be emphasised that these two products are completely different. Maybelline’s gel texture is much creamier, whereas these new lines from Bourjois are soft and velvety to the touch. In fact, they work really well when used together!

If regal, jewel toned eyes are on your agenda this autumn, these are going to have to be for you. My standout shade is Prune Nocturne, a deep, autumnal red. The plum shade looks dark and unassuming in the pot but reveals an iridescent pink sheen when catching the light. Other’s I’ve tried are Or Desir – a failsafe gold that would work well on everyone – and Bleu Tenebreux, a stunning navy blue albeit slightly lighter in texture than the others; prep this one with a primer for optimum impact.
