An uplifting citrus blend

My personal mission for 2014 was to learn as much as possible about fragrance. This in mind, I headed for my nearest Tom Ford this week to undergo a personal fragrance consultation.

During my consultation, I was given the opportunity to sample raw accords. Based on my reactions to each, from various woods to florals and musky notes, my ideal Tom Ford fragrance was chosen. A citrus girl at heart, I was paired with one of his Private Blend scents, Rive D’Ambre.

Unlike some Tom Ford scents I was used to – the likes of Black Orchid or Tuscan Leather – this had all of the intensity of his head-turning scents without any of the heaviness. There is something quite light and heavy about this blend all in one; the lightness being in the fresh quality, but the heaviness in the lasting power and statement of the scent.

Rive D'Ambre Bottle

Rive D’Ambre consists largely of citrus notes, with hints of amber and bergamot in the mix. For summer this is a no brainer, a zesty fragrance to take you from park stroll to cocktail bar. Truthfully I’ve noticed quite a few online reviews from those who were disappointed by the simplicity of this fragrance, but for me that’s the very beauty of it.

A simple, fresh cologne, this is uplifting and invigorating. I love it. Visit any Tom Ford counter and you can enjoy a complimentary fragrance consultation too. I wonder which scent you’ll be paired with?

Tom Ford Rive D’Ambre starts at £140 for 50ml at Selfridges: www.selfridges.co.uk.
