Essential prep for summer skin

At bedtime, I enjoy nothing more than taking all of my make-up off and embarking upon a relaxing skincare ritual. Mornings, however, are a different story.

I’m too tired and tight for time to undergo a facial fit for Fortnum’s, but equally I want to ensure that all of the good I do at night time is complimented by an effective morning regime. Here are the four things I use that take all of 2 minutes to apply and see my skin through the day.

Zelens Radiance Luminous Facial Cleanser, £40
Now it took me a little while to warm to this, largely because it is so unbelievably gentle that I wondered if it was doing anything at all. Alas, I was wrong. So wrong. The Radiance Cleanser is now a fundamental part of my skincare regime, used twice per day. In the morning I use a pump alone to gently clean away the night, and what I love about this is that it isn’t messy or runny so it doesn’t take all day to wash away. It’s gentle but leaves my skin soft and plump without drying it out at all.

Pixi Glow Tonic, £16
This was a slow starter for me which is now an absolute must. Drench a cotton pad with this and swipe it over cleansed skin. It’s acidic (and alcohol free), which basically means it is going to very gently exfoliate your skin and help everything that goes after it to work twice as hard. Did I mention it is just £16? A total bargain. You can pick this up online but if you’re near London it’s worth visiting the Pixi boutique just off Carnaby Street for total glowing skin, jade green heaven.

Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream, £26.99
Under make-up, I am simply loving Antipodes. This NZ brand is one of my favourites because everything is rich, nourishing and clean – i.e. no nasties in sight. Day Cream is very rich so you only need a tiny amount and it is really going to cling to any dry patches to allow for an even, smooth make-up base.

Zelens Daily Defence Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen, £55
We know by now that sunscreen is the number one anti-ageing product you could possibly use, and for me there’s none better than Daily Defence from Zelens. What I love about it is that I hardly feel that it has gone on. It is totally different to many other sunscreens because it is light, easily absorbed and above all really good at what it sets out to do. Dr. Lens who formulates Zelens is a leading authority on sun and skin, so when it comes to SPF I’m taking his word over that of anyone else.
