Eight Hour Cream

Over the years, I've focused Mixed Gems on bringing you the latest in beauty. What this means, however, is that I'm sometimes overlooking the products at the crux of my bag or bathroom, things that I've used for years and those that never lose their appeal.

This in mind I’ve decided to take things back to basics, and what a better way to begin than to unveil the number one product by my bedside. It is, as it has been for years, Elizabeth Arden’s iconic Eight Hour Cream.

Eight Hour Cream

Following on from years of stealing a little from my mother, Eight Hour Cream is now my go-to for everything. Each night, I use a little on my lips, a little along my brows, and sometimes mix it in with my serum of choice to create a bespoke overnight hydrating mask.

In recent years I’ve tried other pieces from the Eight Hour Range. Mom swears by the hand cream (that’s probably her no.1 bedside beauty product). I’ve come to love the Intensive Lip Repair Balm – think of a richer version of Nuxe’s classic Reve de Miel but with that signature Arden scent. And through the summer the Eight Hour Cream SPF 50 has worked wonders on my paler than pale skin, protecting me without clogging my skin or feeling heavy under make-up. But despite my fondness for the newer variations of this line, it’s the classic, heavily scented Skin Protectant that gets my vote every time.

Haven’t tried it yet? It’s worth the investment. You can use it for everything from glossing up your lips to soothing a burn and even nursing a little shaving wound. It’s a total wonder product.

This is a classic product I’ve never tried! Need to get on this! Are those pictures limited edition packaging? Don’t think I’ve seen it in a jar before!
