Every foundation reviewed

Every single day I am asked the same question by at least three women: "what would you say is the best foundation?"

The truth is that depending on your skin type, the coverage you need, the finish you desire, your budget and a million other things, there are so many answers to this question.

Once I realised that everyone was looking for the perfect foundation, I wrote this blog post about some of my favourite foundations. It has consistently been one of my most read posts. And every single day at work I help women to navigate the beauty hall and find the perfect foundation.

So every single day in February, I’m going to review at least one foundation in the hope that I help you to find the one. Here’s the list (I’ll update it each day) and underneath a one-sentence summary of each foundation. Enjoy, and please find me on Instagram @MixedGemsBeauty to tell me which is your favourite.

Day 1: Illamasqua Skin Base, £32.50
This is the perfect mixture of fresh and flawless, gives amazing coverage but looks and feels light on the skin.

Day 2: NARS Sheer Glow, £31.00
A life saver when you are tight on time, you can throw Sheer Glow on with your hands and look glowy, dewy and radiant in seconds.

Day 3: Giorgio Armani Maestro Glow, £40.00
This is a healthy glow in a bottle, ideal for a no-make-up look and giving the illusion of healthy, well rested skin.

Day 3.1: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk, £37.00
The best foundation for photographs, Luminous Silk covers a multitude of sins while still looking fresh and pretty.

Day 3.2: Giorgio Armani Maestro, £40.00
One of the only matte foundations I will gladly tolerate, Giorgio Armani’s Maestro is the ultimate in elegant no-make-up make-up.

Day 4: Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder, £32.00
A one-size-fits-all foundation, Light Wonder adds luminosity to your complexion and leaves the skin looking healthy and plump whatever your age.

Day 5: Stila Stay All Day Foundation & Concealer, £29.50
A luminous matte foundation, this covers everything that you want it to and lasts a full day with no need to touch up.

Day 6: Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation, £25.00
A reliable foundation for those super busy days when you have more important things to worry about than faffing about with your make-up.

Day 7: Tom Ford Traceless Stick Foundation, £64.00
Easy to apply and with great luminosity, this foundation will suit women of all ages and feel like a treat on your dresser.

Day 8: Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick, £29.50
A handy foundation for on the go, the Bobbi foundation stick is ideal for touching up through the day and tailoring your coverage for every different occasion.

Day 9: Estee Lauder Double Wear, £30
For every day of February, I’ll be reviewing a different complexion product.

Day 10: Hourglass Veil Fluid Make-up, £50
A great option for luminous skin, this merges the lightness of a tinted moisturiser and the coverage of a foundation to meet somewhere in the middle for a very flattering finish.

Day 11: Laura Mercier Silk Crème Oil Free Foundation, £35.00
Flawless coverage to plump out the skin, cover any redness and acne and utterly perfect photos.

Day 12: Shu Uemura The Lightbulb Fluid Foundation, £36.00
Completely full coverage with a healthy glow – the best of both worlds.

Day 13: Pixi Illuminating Tint & Conceal, £26.00
The perfect base for a no-make-up kind of make-up.

Day 14: By Terry Terrybly Densiliss, £75.00
Luminous skin in a bottle, this is lovely for anyone that wants to plump out any existing laughter lines and prevent the onset of any more.

Day 15: bareMinerals Original SPF15 Foundation, £26.00
A reliable, build able coverage, this mineral powder is my go-to to calm a breakout and offer great coverage all in one.

Day 16: Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation, £31
Absolutely full coverage that does not move – not for the faint hearted.

Day 17: Zelens Youth Glow Foundation, £60
A brilliant option for anyone wishing to treat the signs of ageing through their make-up routine as well as their skincare.

A multi-purpose matte concealer and foundation, portable for your handbag and all at an affordable price.
