Sheer and glowing

For every day of February, I'll be reviewing a different complexion product.

Day 3: Giorgio Armani Maestro Glow Foundation

Level of coverage

Very sheer. This is more about adding luminosity (in bucketloads!) to the skin and enhancing the natural complexion.

Finish

I love a glowing base and this is very glowing indeed, it dries to a dewy finish.

Longevity

As this is so sheer and dewy, you’ll need to set with a powder if you want it to last the day.

Techniques that you might need to know

A buffing brush may absorb too much product because the formula is so light, so apply this using a flat foundation brush. I’d recommend teaming this with a luminous powder like the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder so that you keep the freshness but hold it in place. To build coverage, apply concealer on the nose, cheeks and chin and then layer this over the top.

You’ll like this if…

– You want something very fresh and glowing, a healthy no-make-up look

–You want an everyday foundation and go outdoors a lot, the added SPF 30 makes this very weatherproof

–You have a slightly more mature skin and want something youthful that doesn’t sit in lines

Avoid if…

I would cover blemishes using concealer before applying this as the light reflecting formula may accentuate them. This isn’t for you if you’re looking for coverage.

Products that work well with this

Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk foundation works really well with this. You can use them together in lots of ways. For more coverage add some LS to the t-zone after applying MG, or for a strobed skin look apply LS all over and then use the MG to add lustre to the cheekbones.

Everything else I need to tell you

Maestro Glow is like the perfect middle ground between Giorgio Armani’s two cult classic foundations, Maestro and Luminous Silk. It captures the lightweight, second skin texture of the Maestro and the glow of Luminous Silk.

If I had to describe this foundation in one sentence…

This is a healthy glow in a bottle, ideal for a no-make-up look and giving the illusion of healthy, well rested skin.

Giorgio Armani Maestro Glow foundation costs £40.00 and is available nationwide.
