Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup Foundation Review

Radiant, light and creamy

For every day of February, I'll be reviewing a different complexion product.

Day 10: Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup

Level of coverage

A fresh medium coverage.

The finish is quite satin, capturing the glow of a dewy finish but with a slightly more velvet finish when dry.

As this is quite a fresh foundation, I’d recommend setting with powder to enhance wearing time. It lasts well through the day but you will want to touch up any especially prominent blemishes or redness with some concealer.

Techniques that you might need to know

I wouldn’t necessarily say that you need to set this with a powder. If you want a very fresh finish wear it alone. Application is totally your call with this foundation – it melts beautifully into the skin with fingers, a sponge or brushes.

You’ll like this if…

– you already wear Hourglass make-up because it creates the same effortless glow as their powders

– you don’t like to feel your foundation on your skin

– you want something to plump the skin that doesn’t sit in any fine lines

Avoid if…

This may not provide quite enough coverage for blemished or very red skin. Team with a concealer to enhance the coverage and you can have the best of both worlds.

Products that work well with this

If you’ve read my blog for a while you will know how utterly obsessed I am with Hourglass. This is an absolute dream if you team it with any of the Ambient Powders – bronze, blush or lighting. Oily skin types will also want to prep with the Veil primer which holds onto foundation for dear life.

Everything else I need to tell you

As far as foundations go, this is very expensive. It is beautiful if you have the money to spend on it, but other brands do offer foundations with similar finishes at less of a cost.

If I had to describe this foundation in one sentence…

A great option for luminous skin, this merges the lightness of a tinted moisturiser and the coverage of a foundation to meet somewhere in the middle for a very flattering finish.

Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup costs £50 and is available nationwide. My favourite places to get it, however, are from the lovely blonde scouse girl at Liberty in London or from Rebecca and Natalie in Harvey Nichols Birmingham.

Can you mention which other foundations have a similar finish? Thanks!
