Summer Scents from Tom Ford

Signature Collection and Private Blend

This summer, two of my most worn fragrances have been new arrivals from Tom Ford.

Here are the two that I’ve been going between, depending on my mood.

Orchid Soleil, from £76
It wasn’t love at first spritz for Orchid Soleil and I. In fact, I wasn’t sure I was going to like it at all. But the remarkable thing about this fragrance is how drastically it softens when it dries down, finishing as a soft but sexy fragrance. On first spray I find the heart note of tuberose to be most prominent, and as it settles notes like vanilla and orchid add a balance to the scent. After a few days of wearing this, I was absolutely hooked. A summer variation on the cult Black Orchid fragrance, this isn’t for the feint hearted and makes a strong statement. This is warm, heady and powerful. I love it.

Even next door’s cat came over to try it…

Fleur de Portofino, from £148
In the same floral family but a completely different entity, my second scent of choice has been the divine Fleur de Portofino. A zesty, light fragrance, this is very uplifting. The fourth in the Neroli Portofino family, this merges floral notes such as rose, jasmine and white magnolia with vibrant citrus notes of orange, lemon and tangerine. What I love about the fragrances in this collection is that there is a bitter undertone to them that gives them an air of masculinity. This fragrance is the perfect floral for someone that wants a pretty fragrance without the sickly sweet personality.

Fleur de Portofino is my fresh summer scent, whereas Orchid Soleil adds sass to golden summer skin.
