Lashes, lipstick and Fairy Liquid!

I've had a super busy few weeks and in this time I've been using and enjoying so many new things. Here's a round up of what's been on my dresser...

Fairy Liquid Antibacterial, £1.99 from your local supermarket
First of all, let’s talk washing brushes. A good friend of mine, David Horne from House of Glamdolls, has told me that the best thing to wash your brushes with is anti-bacterial Fairy Liquid. So here we have it, my first must have.

Tom Ford Fiber Brow Gel, coming this October to Selfridges for £35
Coming soon to the beauty hall, this is one of the best brow products I have ever used. I really like my Tom Ford Brow Sculptor in Taupe and have used it for a long time, but I had started to use the new Illamasqua Brow Build a lot more because it adds fibers as well as giving colour and hold. So imagine my joy when Tom Ford unveiled a Taupe Fiber Brow Gel, the perfect hybrid between my two favourite brow products! This gel is unique to anything else I have tried. Estee Lauder do wonderful brow wands with a tiny wand which is great for precision, but the formula is just gel. Illamasqua do a wonderful brow build with fibres, but the full-size wand is too large. Tom Ford have nailed the product by combining a tiny brush and a filling, building brow formula. I love it.

Phee’s Make-up Shop Highlight Powders, from £6
At the moment I’m hugely into highlighters in unusual colours to create an almost alien-inspired complexion. This in mind, I was SO excited to see that Phee from Phee’s Make-up Tips has created a rainbow highlighter! Apply with a fan brush to create an actual rainbow effect on the cheekbone, or alternatively swoosh all shades together to create a lilac glow. The formula is very pigmented and also comes in more wearable shades like this new golden bronze called Bellini.

Real Techniques Ultimate Base Collection, currently £13.99 from Superdrug
I have brushes from every brand and some of my most used wands are from Real Techniques. I love everything about them – the low price, the way they wash so well, the performance – and I think Sam and Nic have created shapes that do your make-up for you. This set contains their sponge (different to a beauty blender because it has a handy flat surface on it), their Expert Face Brush (brilliant for buffing in full coverage foundations) and an exclusive concealer brush which helps you to conceal without caking the under eyes.

One of the cleverest things about this is the carry pouch. Admittedly when I first saw it I didn’t think I’d use it, but upon examination this is ideal if you do your make-up on the train like me. It comes with a plastic layer under where the brush head would sit, meaning that when you put used make-up brushes back into it, it won’t stain the pouch and you can just wipe it clean.

Laura Mercier Iconic Leading Lady in Vivien (red), £29
Laura Mercier are really having a moment right now – I feel like everyone I speak to is wearing and loving the Translucent Powder and starting to explore more from the brand. To celebrate her 20th anniversary, she has created these beautiful lip sets inspired by her favourite Hollywood icons.

Kayeluxe Lashes, £12
One of the beauty hall girls has created her own false lash brand called Kayeluxe. The lashes have a really thin, flimsy band which is my favourite type of band. This way, they sit easily on the eye, look very natural but add fullness and they don’t feel uncomfortable or ping off.

She’s got lots of different styles to share so be sure to visit her Instagram page @KayeLuxe. Love them, thank you Taran for sharing!

Dollface Lashes, £10
Another lash creation from one of the beauty hall girls! Dannii is a trainer for Stila and she is known for her glamorous, more-is-more make-up style. She is so brilliant at make-up and always comes in looking a million dollars. Her Dollface Lashes are made in mind for those that love lashes and like to double up on pairs to add fullness.

Each set is almost like wearing two normal sets, but you have the ease of being able to apply them with one band. The band on these is very sturdy so they’ll take a little more practise to apply but they will last really well and you can use them again and again.
