Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Foundation Review

And the new Foundation Brush

For a few weeks now this foundation has been my go-to for fresh, natural make-up looks.

Level of coverage

This offers a sheer to medium coverage depending on how much you apply, but looks completely effortless and fresh.

Finish

Designed to look like a second skin, the finish is fresh and luminous but I wouldn’t say dewy. This is velvety and melts into the skin leaving a subtle sheen.

Longevity

For a normal day, the longevity is great. Seal it with a little powder and it will last you the day with no need to touch up. If your day is more taxing you’ll need to reapply some concealer here and there – for example last week when I spent most of mid-morning running from tube to tube.

Techniques that you might need to know

This applies beautifully whether you prefer to use a brush or fingers. It melts seamlessly into the skin so that you can’t really go wrong when applying it.

You’ll like this if…

– you like scented foundations. The scent is my favourite thing about this; powdery and floral.

– you like to look polished without looking like you have lots of make-up on.

– you want something radiant that won’t sit in any fine lines.

Avoid if…

This may not be enough for you if you have areas that you need to colour correct, for example redness or rosacea.

Products that work well with this

I can’t recommend the corresponding Foundation Brush enough. This brush is soft and fluffy, firm enough not to swallow the product but fluffy enough to create a seamless, streak-free finish. I’ve been using this with a number of foundations and it works beautifully with all of them. In comparison to the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush (another favourite of mine) this is softer with longer bristles.

Everything else I need to tell you

Guerlain never get foundation wrong. Even if you don’t think this one sounds like your bag, do explore the rest of the range if you like make-up that feels and smells luxurious. This comes in 18 shades.

If I had to describe this foundation in one sentence…

A soft second skin that smells lovely and gives the skin a sheer but polished finish.

Guerlain’s Lingerie de Peau costs £38.50.
