Flawless, matte coverage

If you like a velvety, polished complexion, this is one for you.

Level of coverage

A completely full coverage, this offers a high pigment with minimal product.

Finish

The finish is velvety and matte, setting to quite a flat colour due to the high pigment.

Longevity

Longevity is the strongest pull with this foundation, wearing well through the day and staying put even in heat, humidity and water.

Techniques that you might need to know

Due to the very matte, pigmented finish that this gives, skin preparation is essential, more so if you have dry skin. Be sure to prep with a hydrating moisturiser. Don’t use anything too rich underneath; for example, I tried it once with quite a shiny primer and they didn’t layer well.

You’ll like this if…

– you want a flawless complexion

– you want something that lasts long days and hot conditions

– you don’t want to have to powder your face through the day

Avoid if…

This isn’t for you if you like a fresh, dewy look. You’ll much prefer the Tom Ford Foundation Stick. Drier skins may wish to try before they buy.

Products that work well with this

Seeing as this is so rich, I find a buffing brush to be the best way to apply it. Take a large fluffy brush and work into the skin using circular motions.

Everything else I need to tell you

Finally, Tom Ford has got a high coverage offering in his foundation range. Compared to each of his other foundations this is very different in finish and coverage. And despite the small 30ml size, a little goes a long way. This is an investment at £64 so I’d recommend getting a colour match on counter and wearing for the day to see how you like it before you buy.

If I had to describe this foundation in one sentence…

Reliable, weatherproof foundation with completely full coverage and staying power.

This foundation costs £64 and will be released this October.
