Origins, Pixi and more...

This Christmas, I've narrowed down some of my favourite beauty gift options.

THE CLASSIC GIRLIE INDULGENCE
Soap and Glory 12 Christmas Washes
, £30 from Boots

I’m still holding out hope that one day we might have a Soap and Glory advent calendar to look forward to, but until then this is an absolute treat.

Those of us that love Soap and Glory will no doubt have had one of their mega boxes from Boots, they release them every year to sell-out results. This 12 Christmas Washes sets is a more bite-sized, practical set, allowing you to try luxury miniatures of their best-selling products.

What really makes this special is the box which lights up when you press it. Packaging is such a strength of theirs, and now you can keep this little round lid as a Christmas decoration. I can’t think of anyone that wouldn’t love this.

A UNIVERSAL MAKE-UP GIFT
Charlotte Tilbury Dreamy Look in a Clutch
, £90 from Charlotte Tilbury

Unlike lots of her other palettes, Charlotte has released this soft, golden palette this Christmas, ideal for creating a no make-up kind of look.

Charlotte Tilbury Christmas 2016 Legendary Muse Palette

This quad of pastel shimmers is virtually impossible go get wrong; it blends effortlessly and creates a soft but polished look.

Alongside the palette, this clutch contains everything you need for party make-up. First, let’s talk the rubber lipstick. This is actually a USB which gives a full Charlotte tutorial when plugged into your computer. Then you have Secret Salma Lipstick, a Legendary Lashes mascara, an exclusive Lip Cheat to match the lipstick and a liner. This is what you want to get a seasoned Charlotte Tilbury lover that already has lots of the core collection.

THE FRAGRANCE TO GET WHEN YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY USUALLY WEAR
Nuxe Holiday Perfume Set
, £37 from Nuxe

Nuxe’s fragrance is one of my favourite summer smells. It smells sexy on the skin and although it has an identity it is subtle enough to work for lots of different people. Layer this into your favourite fragrance to give it warmth, or use alone for a soft scent after you shower. This set contains a matching body lotion which I always think intensifies the scent if needs be. For me, this is a lovely option if you aren’t sure exactly what kind of fragrance the person you’re buying for will like.

THE FRAGRANCE FOR THE LADY WITH THE SWEET TOOTH
Laura Mercier Sweet Temptations Almond Coconut Milk Luxe Body Collection
, £55 from Selfridges

When it comes to scent that takes over the entire house, there is nothing more potent than Laura Mercier. I love getting a Laura Mercier set at Christmas because more often than not it manages to last me the whole year. This box is the Almond Coconut variation and features a perfume, body lotion, bath and body wash and body cream.

A word of advice: do not go anywhere near this if you aren’t one for strong smells, because the sheer power of these fragrances is what makes them so loved. The tiniest spray of perfume or layer of lotion will be enough to keep you (and your bathroom) scented for the entire day. And, for me, the most special part is the little wooden ladel used to tease out the body wash like a pot of honey.

THE TREAT FOR SOMEONE THAT NEEDS SOME TLC
Origins RitualiTea Matcha Madness Gift Set
, £45 from Origins

One of my favourite skincare brands is Origins. There are quite a few things, for example the Drink Up mask, that I swear by and always have to hand at home. But this new collection is unlike anything I’ve tried from them before.

This new matcha tea face mask starts as a powder, allowing you to mix water and custom blend your own mask to create a formula that suits you. They have a range of different powder masks, but this one is lovely for brightening and invigorating the skin so will be just the thing to see you through the party season. I’ve found that unlike lots of masks that I like to use after taking make-up off, this is something I love using to prep my skin because I want to show off the glow it gives me. Centred around a campaign encouraging people to #PressPause, this would be a great gift and ritual for someone that needs some me-time.

THE ADVENT CALENDAR YOU MIGHT HAVE OVERLOOKED
Marks and Spencer Beauty Advent Calendar
, £35 when you spend £35 from M&S

I’m not sure that everyone realises just how great the beauty offering is at M&S.

They’re home to some of the loveliest brands, including french pharmacy favourites and cult classics like Philip Kingsley and Pixi.

This year, they have this huge advent calendar available as a special purchase with purchase.

Each door is a very sizeable box, and the products are a mixture of brand favourites and also M&S own pieces like the Rosie HW beauty collection.

Worth over £250, it’s actually a steal at £35 given that you’ve already spend £35 in other departments.

THE ADVENT CALENDAR FOR THE TEEN MAKE-UP LOVER
Tanya Burr 12 Day Beauty Calendar
, £25 from Superdrug

One of the things I’ve observed from working in the beauty hall is that the people with their sights set on a beauty advent calendar are getting younger and younger. I think it’s really important to find an option for younger girls that is a bit more age appropriate. Not only so that you can ensure that the beauty offering is acceptable for a younger person, but also to ensure that a young teen isn’t disheartened when opening an anti-ageing moisturiser.

This in mind, Tanya Burr’s calendar this year is a really great option. Everything about it, from the Christmas house packaging to the subtle product inside, lends itself to making the perfect gift for a younger girl. I’d really recommend this if your little girl is growing up a bit faster than you might like!

THE MAKE-UP GIFT THEY’LL WEAR ALL YEAR ROUND
Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen Kit, £18, and Fairy Dust Favourites, £12
, both from Pixi Beauty

Pixi completely win the Christmas packaging awards this year with their holly patterned gift sets. Although the festive touch means that they’ll make a lovely gift, the truth is their sets are real make-up staples that the recipient is sure to use all year round.

My favourites are these pigment pots, all in neutral and very wearable shades. Despite being just £12, these will last a long time and the colour pay-off is fantastic. And for those that don’t like too much eye make-up, the Silky Eye Pen kit will be perfect. These velvety liners are easy so smudge out with the fingers, giving sultry definition near the lash line with no harsh finishes.

THE ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE: THE ONE EVERYONE WILL LOVE
This Works Sleep Spell Cracker
, £10 from This Works

And my number one present this Christmas? I am stone mad about This Works. Their sleep range is ideal for me, someone who struggles to wind down and drift off before bed. This cracker is just £10 and contains a long vial of their Sleep Mist, the best selling product. Everybody, young or old, will love getting the gift of a great night’s sleep.
