Three party make-up looks

This week, we shot the fashion story for issue 52 of Style Birmingham magazine.

I love doing the make-up for photoshoots at Style Birmingham because Mike from the team takes the loveliest photos. I really look forward to getting them back from him.

We created three really glamorous party looks for this shoot and it was my favourite with them to date. Here are some behind-the-scenes shots of the make-up for you to enjoy before the issue is released next week.

Look 1: Purple Smoky Eye

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Unfortunately, to create this look I used a very old pigment in Parma Violet from Peaches and Cream but it’s now discontinued. Such a shame because oh my gosh it was so easy to blend and created a flawless finish. So below I’ve substituted a couple of alternatives I know will work just as well…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Take Sugarpill Loose Eyeshadow in Strangeling through the socket, then LORAC Rose on the lids. Deepen the purple with some dark purple from the Urban Decay Electric Palette and add a black Lancome Grandiose liner flick. Set with a layer of NYX Double Stacked mascara.

Prep the skin with NIOD Photography Foundation, then apply Suqqu foundation all over. Set the base with NARS translucent powder, and gently sculpt and bronze using Tom Ford Bronzing Powder. Add a pop of colour using The Estee Edit blush in Purr Pink, and soften any edges with their Fluid Highlighting Powder. Use Clinique Cherry Pop on the lips. Use lots of MAC Reflects Glitter in Gold on the inner corners of the eyes and across the gold on the lids.

Look 2: Navy Smoky Eye

Create a template of where the colour is going to go using Peaches and Cream eyeshadow palette and the taupe/brown shades. Then, take MAC Spellbinder eyeshadow in Aphrodisiatic all over the lids and under the lash line and buff out with a clean brush. Add a strong hit of Peaches and Cream pigment in Disco to the inner corners of the eyes.

Apply Suqqu foundation all over the skin and set as above. Take lots of MAC In Extra Dimension highlighter down the nose and on the lips and use Clinique Sugar Pop on lips.

Look 3: Green Disco Diva

This was my favourite look! My photos haven’t quite managed to capture this as well as I’d hoped as by this point it was really dark outside. I’m looking forward to seeing Mike’s.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Take MAC eyeshadow in Chrome Yellow all over the lids and sockets. Take Sugarpill pigment in Hug Life all over the lids and under the eyes. Deepen with Urban Decay Electric palette dark green. Use Illamasqua Sealing Gel to set LIT Glitter in Magic Dragon on the lids.

For the base, use foundation and powder as above. Take Tom Ford blusher in Flush all over the cheeks, and use MAC Chrome Yellow as a highlighter, spilling into the smoky eye. Finish with Louboutin lipstick in Bengali.
