A sweet vanilla for bad girls

Working in a department store allows me the luxury of a spritz of any perfume from the beauty hall every day. Ask my colleagues and they will vouch that the Tom Ford Private Blend collection is one of my favourite morning pit-stops.

This in mind, I was keen to discover their latest arrival, Vanille Fatale, coming this spring.

Though there are already sweet and heady fragrances in his collection, nothing quite compares to this new addition, filling what appeared to be a gap in the range for a sophisticated gourmand scent.

Yes Vanille Fatale is sweet, but wrapped in spices and smoke it sits with depth. To compare it to other fragrances from the range I’d say it is more powerful than Fucking Fabulous and slightly less intense than Tobacco Vanille. Thinking wider afield, this reminds me of Myrrh and Tonka from Jo Malone London.

Top notes: saffron, coriander, myrrh, olibanum
Heart notes: coffee, narcissus, frangipani
Base notes: vanilla, mahogany, suede

Tom Ford Vanille Fatale

Wearing this for two consecutive days, I was surprised at the amount of people that commented on my fragrance. Though I only wore a spray on each wrist, the lasting power seemed to exceed my usual Tom Ford Mandarino di Amalfi and caught the nose of men and women alike. Though potentially slightly more feminine with floral and sweet notes, the power of saffron and mahogany in this make it intense enough for unisex appeal.

I loved this instantly and think it is one of the most accessible, universal launches of Mr. Ford’s to date. This will be for you if you like to feel a ‘good enough to eat’ scrumptiousness when you catch an air of your fragrance.

Tom Ford Vanille Fatale will launch nationwide on February 9th.
