A new collection made to challenge the stereotypes of age and beauty

Enraged by the idea that growing older means conforming to a beauty bag of beige, Illamasqua have released the Generation Q collection. Filled with bright shades, most of which are infused with shimmer, the brand is challenging the usual options for older skin and embracing the idea that beauty is timeless. Here's the low down on what's in the collection...

Key product: Gleam in Aurora

Gleam in Aurora is my favourite product from the collection, and indeed one of my favourite Illamasqua products to date. A creamy illuminator, this is perfect for highlighting or for mixing into foundation for a luminous glow. Contained in a palette, it adds a creamy, slightly pinkish sheen to the skin. Apply with your fingertips for optimum blending.

Nail Varnish in Creator

Glitter nail varnishes can often take a long time to build up, but this mixture of silver glitter and black varnish is an easy alternative. Like all of Illamasqua’s nail varnishes, just two coats of this polish will give your nails a full coverage. The glitter in the formula is very fine, meaning that it is relatively easy to remove (glitters are always that bit harder to work with; make sure you don’t hold back on the remover).

Powder Blusher in Allure

A dusky pink, this blush is a universal shade that will suit all complexions. Punctuated with a soft, golden shimmer, this is just the thing to add warmth and radiance to any complexion. A light dusting gives a full colour so be careful not to be too heavy handed.

Precision Ink in Wisdom

For those that find liquid liner application to be difficult, Precision Inks could be just the thing. With a long, spongy and pointed tip, application is fairly easy. Let the tip do the work; drag it along the lash line and it will create a flick that is graduated from thin to thick. This rustic bronze is also perfect for adding nail art details – just remember to seal them with a top coat.

Intense Lipgloss in Boost

A pink lipgloss with a shimmering, blue sheen, this is an ethereal shade. The scent is divine (soft and fruity) and the texture is thick without being gloopy. Unlike other glosses, a coat of this will stand the test of time, and the ‘intense’ variation means that the colour of the bottle is exactly what you get on your lips.

Lipstick in Underworld

Described as ‘Iridescent Blueberry Violet’, this lipstick is an intense, other-worldly pink. Matte in texture, it can be applied dry for a highly pigmented look or is best mixed with gloss for a more satin finish.

If you’re all for embracing your beauty, despite age, race or gender, then Generation Q will be just for you. Find out more about the collection by visiting the Illamasqua website.
