Origins Hydrating Skincare

Powered by Nature. Proven by Science.

Over the past few months I have been on a mission; my aim has been to keep on top of my naturally dry skin and ensure that I always keep it plump and hydrated. For the past couple of weeks I have been using two new hydrating products from Origins and the results have been among the fastest I've seen with any hydrating products.

Plantscription SPF15 Anti-Aging Cream

This thick, creamy pot is perfect for a skin pick-me-up first thing in the morning. The formula of the cream is very white (think a lighter version of suncream) so be sure to only use a small amount and take time massaging it in. Although it seems quite heavy at first it sinks in very quickly, leaving a balmy finish which creates a lovely base for underneath make-up.

There are so many things that I like about this cream. Firstly, it is so rich so the 50ml quantity will last you a very long time. Then there’s the SPF. Although SPF is necessary at any time of year, it’s especially important at the moment when the unpredictable weather is catching us out left right and centre, so having this on will keep you protected come rain or (unexpected) shine. A finishing touch, the cream is lightly scented with fresh, floral notes.

What I didn’t like? For me, this was perfect. Although it is best used as an anti-aging cream, it is so nourishing and ideal for my dry skin. It may, however, be too much for oilier skin types, so I’d maybe try their Zero Oil moisture lotion if this is your main skin concern.

Drink Up

Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask – to Quench Skin’s Thirst

Without a doubt, this is one of the fastest-acting hydrating skin products I have tried to date. Another thick, creamy formula, this mask is essentially just a heavy face cream that you leave on overnight. Infused with the likes of hyaluronic acid (the ultimate ingredient for dry skin) and Japanese seaweed to prevent future moisture loss, the formula works wonders overnight.

How I use mine: applying to cleansed, toned skin, I massage in a layer of the Drink Up mask and leave it as I get ready for bed. Then, just before I fall asleep I top up with a little extra. The bottle says to tissue off any excess and I can see why you may wish to as this does look and feel very oily, but personally I just leave mine. By morning, my skin is completely plump and hydrated.

In terms of using these products together, I would recommend using one or the other. The Plantscription cream is brilliant for everyday use, but the Drink Up mask is so rich that you won’t need any additional moisture in the morning and suggested use is twice per week. Instead, I like to use a brightening serum like L’Occitane’s Immortele so that I have some light protection on my skin without overloading it with moisture.

With paraben free, naturally derived ingredients, Origins won’t be moving from my bedside table any time soon.
