The oil you need to know about

Rose otto, an oil extracted from the petals of various forms of rose, is a component I've found in lots of beauty products recently. I love the calming effect that ingredients from roses can have (I've spoken previously about my love for the likes of Nuxe's rose water products) and a few new items recently have been working really well for me. Here are 3 for you to consider and - if you're quick - one of them is FREE!

Balance Me – Rose Otto Intense Lip Salve
A rich, hydrating formula, this lip balm hasn’t left my purse in recent weeks. A squeezy tube, this is a clear, oily gel, meaning that it is perfect for mixing into your usual lipstick or pencil. I mix mine with my Illamasqua pencils and lipsticks (amazing pigments and fairly matt in texture) to give them a glossier, softer finish. Used alone it will give a high-shine finish to lips for a barely there look, and a thick layer works wonders overnight. Overall this stands out for me because it generally lasts longer than other lip balms I’ve tried and the rose scent is just divine.

REN Skincare – Rose Otto Body Wash
A cult classic from REN, this body wash has been voted as the ‘Best Body Wash’ by InStyle a staggering 11 years in a row! Initially working as an oily gel formula, this works into a lather when massaged into wet skin but leaves a soft balmy residue on the skin even after towel drying. This is perfect for those of us who are using fake tan at the moment because you feel squeaky clean after showering but the moisture will help to lock in that tan. For best results I’ve been working this in with my hands. It is lovely to use just before bed to help to unwind after a long day.

RO Body Wash

REN Skincare – Rose Otto Body Cream (free with the June Harper’s Bazaar UK)
A pleasant surprise with one of my favourite monthly magazines, I picked up a sample of this body cream a few weeks ago and have been using it just before bed. The Rose Otto Body Wash leaves my skin feeling hydrated enough after a shower, so I’ve just been adding some of this to dry areas like knees, elbows and ankles for an extra moisture boost. Described as ‘deeply hydrating’ and ‘easily absorbed’, it does what it says on the tin. A little goes a long way and – again – this is brilliant to use for a moisture boost before applying fake tan.
