Finish getting Naked

There's not normally much to get excited about with a finishing powder. It does what it says on the tin - finishes your make-up and, for most of us, keeps an oily t-zone at bay. After using Urban Decay's new Naked Skin powder, however, I have to say there's really something to shout about.

If you’ve tried anything else from the Urban Decay Naked line – the Naked 2 Palette being my favourite – you’ll know that they’re pretty much all go-to items that make the every day make-up feel special. The Ultra Definition Pressed Finishing Powder is exactly that, merging the simple necessity of finishing your make-up with a dewy, fresh finish, and adding a hint of extra coverage.

The reason that this has gone down so well for me is that it works; it’s that simple. My make-up stays put all day when I wear this, and although it does add a slight hint of extra coverage, there is in no way a chalky or drying residue. Somehow it seals everything in without flattening your make-up; as someone who always favours the fresh, dewy look, this is very important to me.

A bonus is the packaging. If you’re treating somebody to this it comes in a pretty purple floral pouch and then the compact itself is a brilliant mix of sturdy but light. Having this in my handbag is no bother at all; I can be as rough as I like knowing that a) it won’t break but b) it also won’t open or spill everywhere. It opens out to reveal a second layer to store an applicator sponge, but I’m personally using the Real Techniques Blusher Brush to apply mine with lovely results.

One thing I’d say is to be sure you find your perfect match before you buy. This comes in 5 shades it’s slightly more coverage than an average setting powder so a colour match is essential.

For a finely milled, silky  texture, there’s no longer a need to mince around with messy loose powders; Naked Skin have nailed the finishing touch of your base.
