The best new beauty releases from 2013

In 2013 we saw so many iconic beauty launches, from relaunches of classic formulas to completely new innovations. Here were my favourite new launches of the year in no particular order...

Modern Muse1. Estee Lauder Modern Muse
Without a doubt this was my favourite fragrance of 2013. This is a “dual impression” fragrance, blending floral notes with muskier notes to create a sweet, simple scent. Great for all ages and sits wonderfully atop any dresser.

Ren Centifolia Balm2. Ren Centifolia Rose Cleansing Balm
2013 was the year that I really got to grips with REN. I’m yet to try something I didn’t love and in simple terms their products just do what they’re supposed to really well. This cleansing balm is instantly comforting, removes even my trowels of make-up (although I’d recommend you use something separate on the eyes) and polishes the skin to a plump, buffed finish.

Initialiste3. Kerastase Initialiste
Since working this serum into my routine in April, I’ve had around 6 inches of hair growth. I cut my hair without fail every 6-8 weeks, and yet it has somehow managed to tumble down my back.

ANRII4. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronised Recovery Complex
The updated version of a classic, the new formula of Estee Lauder’s classic serum is my go-to for everyday maintenance. Whether your skin is looking dry, dull or even a bit pimply, this will give a noticeable improvement within days.

Fragile5. Illamasqua Speckled Nail Varnish
In January and February of 2013, there was one nail product that everyone was wearing and it was Illamasqua’s speckled nail varnishes. I think these did so well because we’ve all gone nail art mad and these provide an easy way to achieve the trend. Google ‘Illamasqua Mini Eggs’ to see all of the amazing images that bloggers took comparing them to Cadbury’s Mini Eggs!

The Body Shop Camomile6. The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye and Lip Make-up Remover
When it comes to eye make-up removers, I’ve tried them all because I wear it all. I wear lashes, sometimes glitter and ususally eyeshadow, so I need something heavy duty. Earlier this year The Body Shop brought out an entire camomile range of make-up removers but the Waterproof Eye and Lip dual formula is one of the best I’ve used – period. When applied to a cotton pad and pressed (not rubbed) onto the eyelid, 90% of make-up is removed straight away and the last 10% (my lash glue, remnants of glitter) melt away easily with a gentle wipe. Ridiculously gentle but very fast acting.

Naked 37. Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
Ok, ok, it’s a big cliche, but some things are cliche for a reason and the Urban Decay Naked line is one of those things. Frankly, this is one of those palettes that ladies of all ages would make good use for. Each of the 12 exclusive shades fall into a rose coloured spectrum and the result is a warm, versatile palette. Make-up artists take note: this will be a dream for your 2014 brides.

Creme de la Mer8. Creme de la Mer The Reparative Sun Lotion
2013 was the year that I fell in love with Creme de la Mer (namely because I had finished University and interning and could finally afford it, ha ha). One of their new products was a sunscreen for face that I took to the blistering heat of Marrakech. My skin felt plump and hydrated and I didn’t burn, but more importantly didn’t amount to the pimples that lots of sun screens can bring. I reapplied in the afternoons for the instant comfort factor of the rich formula on tight, dehydrated skin.

Peaches Pigments9. Peaches and Cream Pigments
Obviously you’ll know by now that I think Peaches and Cream is the best salon in the world. But they really out did themselves this year with their range of pigments. Each shade is rich in pigment, universally flattering and above all so cost effective. If you can’t get to Liverpool to experience the ultimate treat of getting Peached, let the Peaches Pigments come to you…

LP10. La Prairie Anti-Aging Stress Cream
What a dream. This cream has been one of my favourite night time products since it hit the shelves at the beginning of the year. What makes it so special is the soft lavender sent, perfect for setting you off to sleep. Teamed with Cellular Power Serum, this gave my sister (the bride to be) a fresh, youthful glow for her wedding day.

Rituals Fortune Oil11. Rituals Fortune Oil
If you love the L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil, you will LOVE this! Rituals’ Laughing Buddha collection was one of my favourite launches of the year, and this is the standout product. Use this in the shower, it goes on as an oil but melts into a milk as you massage it into the skin. It leaves the scent of a fresh fruity cocktail and your skin will feel extra soft afterwards. A truly unique formula, don’t bother trying to find this anywhere else; you need the real McCoy.

3Lab BB Cream12. 3Lab BB Cream
A fresh citrus scent, premium skincare ingredients and a full coverage… there is nothing not to love about this BB Cream.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24H13. Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows
Frankly, these small gel texture eyeshadow pots put premium beauty to shame. Layer onto the eyelid for a full wash of colour that lasts all day or as a base for your favourite shimmer shadows to create an intense, full coverage eyeshadow look.
