A new face in 180 seconds

In terms of skincare, La Prairie is a firm favourite brand of mine. What I love about their products is that they seem to work really hard but feel super gentle on your skin at the same time.

Yesterday evening I tried the Cellular 3-Minute Peel for the first time. Designed to ‘reinvent the surface of your skin’, the formula uses AHAs, BHAs and mixed salicylic and fruit acids to rid the skin of dead skin cells. In English? It’s an exfoliator, minus the beads and scrubbing.

3-Minute Peel comes in a slick glass jar and includes a small applicator brush, so I applied a thin layer all over my face, taking care to avoid the eye area. Seeing as it claimed to minimise the appearance of pores, I went slightly thicker in my affected areas: nose, chin and centre of forehead. The texture is gel-like and quite cooling on application.

As it worked I felt a slight tingling but it was pleasant. Then, I used a flannel to wash it away with warm water. I was sceptical about whether 3 minutes would be long enough and I was so tempted to leave it on for longer, but as a first time user I stuck to the allocated time.

I was absolutely blown away by the result. My skin had a visible shine to it, like it had been polished. It felt really smooth – like the feeling when you blitz the Clarisonic but softer – and amazingly I didn’t have any redness. Instead my skin looked calm and fresh. I did feel slightly tight and so I applied a hydrating serum afterwards, then finished with La Prairie night creams for eye and face. By morning my skin was unusually soft and my make-up went on noticeably more evenly.

Yes, it’s expensive. But frankly it works wonders and it does so in record time. If this is out of your price range, might I suggest visiting Caroline Hirons’ website here for the lowdown on exfoliating toners. These are a great way to add an exfoliating step into your regime without eating beans for the rest of the month.

Safe to use once per week, this is now in my Sunday night ‘get ready for the week ahead’ regime and will not be going anywhere.

La Prairie Cellular 3-Minute Peel is £148.00 from Selfridges.

I’d love to try the la Prairie range, but in all honesty, it’s VERY expensive although I’m sure it’s worth every penny :o). Xx
