The Body Shop's Key Artist during London Fashion Week

Last weekend, I joined The Body Shop for a number of shows at London Fashion Week. They had teamed up with Fashion Scout to provide the make-up looks for a number of different designers from Pam Hogg to Belle Sauvage.

In between shows, I caught up with Lan Nguyen-Grealis, one of their Key Artists responsible both for creating the looks for a show and leading a team of make-up artists to execute it.

Lan’s top pick was the Radiant Highlighter. This creamy formula is great for giving the illusion of dewy, glowing skin. (Think Benefit’s High Beam but with a slightly lighter consistency.)

Next on her list was a new Insta Blur Primer which I was lucky to preview as it won’t be hitting our shelves until May! For Lan, this is an essential because “it finishes skin before you’ve started” and smoothes over any bumps or pores. If you need something to keep you going until then, they’ve just brought out two great alternatives. There’s a Tea Tree Pore Minimiser, smells really fresh and gently minimises the appearance of pores, or a Matte It Skin Primer for all over the face. This will eradicate shine and hold your make-up in place.

For skin, BB Creams were the key product of this season because the skin looks were all so fresh. Applied with a foundation brush, these gave the perfect combination of coverage and hydration to each model. For sensitive skins, Lan used the Mineral Compact which is slightly more neutral in scent.

And the unlikely contour essential? Lan swore by her Brow Kit! Strong, defined brows were signature in almost every look, so these were always on hand because “they’re universal and really versatile. I also used them with a fluffy brush to create a natural looking contour because they have a kind of taupe undertone which gives the illusion of a natural shadow on the face”.

The long and short? This autumn, we’ll be seeing fresh bases with bold brows (the Cara effect) and precise accents of colour all round. It sounds like my kind of season!

(A huge thank you to Sofie-Eliza, Sheena and Zoe from The Body Shop for taking me to London Fashion Week.)
