Becca: A Glowing Skin Edit

An Australian gem from Space NK

From Miranda Kerr to Elle Macpherson, it has to be said that Australian ladies seem to have a fresh, healthy glow like no other. For this reason, I was keen to explore Becca, an Australian brand focused on perfecting a flawless natural look. With formulas to last the Aussie heat and at the same time enhance the skin, I used Becca on days when I needed a long-lasting make-up look that felt comfortable and fresh.

Ever Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, £28.00
I’m not normally one for primers, but this I can make an exception for. The texture is different to lots of primers I’ve tried in that it’s silicone free. You warm the rich, balmy texture between your fingers and it goes onto the skin with a fairly tacky residue at first. Once dry, it feels weightless, holds onto your base of choice and helps to keep everything smudge-free all day. I like that this doesn’t interfere with how your base goes on and it really helps to soften out any pores, in particular for me around the nose and forehead. If you’ve got oilier skin you can pat a little on top of your make-up as the day goes on to counteract any shine, too.

Beach Tint, £20
This is a little tube of magic. A soft, creamy balm, a tiny bit goes a long way to perking up your cheeks and lips. What I love about this is that you get a really soft, flushed finish with it, and it doesn’t look too done. It’s easy to blend, easy to wear and is perfect even for the teeniest of handbags. There’s a light dew to the finish, leaving you with that Australian beachy glow. The scent? It depends on which shade you select – each scent is synonymous with it’s name.

Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in shade Opal, £30
As far as highlighters go, this is one of the loveliest I’ve tried. This silky, golden powder is really buildable, meaning that you can use it all over for a light glow or create an intense finish in areas like the cheekbones, brow bones and décolletage. The shade itself is similar to one of my favourite MAC Cosmetics pigments, Blonde’s Gold. On my fair skin, it looks fairly unassuming before it hits the light. Paired with a tan, it really glows against the darkness of the skin and helps to frame and contour the face. It gives a lovely high shimmer but the softness and ease of blending means that you look more golden than disco ball. And the compact itself is a treat; the sleek, light packaging comes complete with a generous mirror in the lid.

For glowing skin, I’m won over. If I’m travelling or working long hours, I’ve got my eyes and my brushes on Becca. And as for colour? They’re pretty lovely on that, too, but more about that very soon…
