A foray into colour for the coveted facialist

When I heard that Eve Lom had decided to venture into make-up, I knew her line was going to be a game changer.

Her skincare range is impossibly brilliant; of course, it is widely known that Vogue described her iconic Cleansing Balm as “probably the best cleanser in the world”. Now, she’s made a new range of make-up products to enhance the glowing complexions she helps to create.

With high expectations I tried a few pieces and, fortunately, found each to be marvellous.

Flawless Radiance Primer, £40.00
We all know what primers are for – smoothing over any little lines, pores or imperfections to give your foundation an optimal base. Of course, Eve Lom wanted to ensure that hers really treated the skin, and thus a brightening wonder balm was born. A blend of ingredients such as BerryFlux Vita, Sand Lily and Vitamins A and E ensure that skin is brightened, hydrated and protected from environmental damage. Used under your make-up, it helps to seal everything into place and adds a well rested sheen to your base. In fact, if you’re going make-up free it’s a lovely product to use for a barely there healthy glow.

Radiance Lift Foundation, £50.00
One of the best foundations I’ve tried, this is one for you if you favour a velvety matte finish. As a general rule I tend to opt for foundations with a dewy finish as I love a healthy, glowing complexion. But somehow, Eve Lom has managed to merge the silky finish of a matte formula with the freshness and glow that normally only comes with dewier bases. A single pump will cover most of the face if you prefer a light coverage, whereas two will give you either a medium or full coverage depending on how you build it. If you like Lancome Teint Idole then you’ll really like this – there’s 15 shades available. And as for the finishing touches? The golden packaging makes your dresser look infinitely more premium, and the light floral scent adds a fresh touch to the makeover ritual.

Natural Radiance Mineral Powder Foundation, £45.00
It’s a funny thing; this powder gives more of a glow and dewy finish than lots of BB creams I’ve tried. This silky, finely milled powder buffs onto the skin for a medium to full coverage that lasts all day. Prime your skin with the Flawless Radiance Primer beforehand, then buff into the skin with a soft brush in circular motions (the Real Techniques Buffing Brush worked a charm for me). In particular, this worked well to cover redness in my skin. Infused with mattifying rice silk, it lasts the full day, but BerryFlux Vita will work to keep the skin hydrated. There’s only six shades in this formula, but the softer finish gives you more flexibility when it comes to colour matching.

What else can you experiment with? To seal everything into place try the Sheer Radiance Translucent Powder (£42), it comes complete with a brush so frees up space in your handbag. Add some warmth with the Golden Radiance Bronzing Powder, £42, and choose between 6 shades of either a pen or potted concealer for blurring over any minor imperfections. Not so much of a make-up lover? You might prefer the Radiance Perfected Tinted Moisturiser, £48. There’s 12 shades and each will give a fresh, brightening finish. You can use one of her three new brushes to apply it, too…

Given the long lasting, non-shimmer glow that comes with each of these, it’s clear to see why it took a facialist to create them.

Eve Lom’s Radiance Perfection range is available for pre-order now at www.evelom.com and will be available in store in late February.
