Vita Liberata – the best tan in town

Finally, a tan that doesn't smell. Praise be!

I love the instant slimming effect of a layer of fake tan. But after a day or two, they all leave you smelling the same way... like a wet dog.

However, Vita Liberata have caught my eye by finally bringing out a tan that a) doesn’t smell and b) doesn’t go patchy. It’s what we’ve all been waiting for!

So what’s the catch, you ask? It’s the price. At £37.50, the pHenomenal tan is much more pricey than lots of other tans on the market. But what I will say is that it’s worth the investment.

To apply the pHenomenal tan, you’re going to need a spare Sunday or three consecutive evenings. Ideally, you apply a full layer and wash after 3 hours, then repeat twice more in one day. What you’re left with is a tan that lasts up to three weeks and gently fades away with no patches. If, like me, you can’t be bothered spending your day in and out of the shower, you can still get great results by adding one layer every night for three nights in a row.

I’m very fair and so tans can easily look artificial on me, but the Medium lotion comes up as a lovely golden shade. Speaking of lotion, you aren’t meant to moisturise before applying this – just exfoliate and go because there are built in moisturisers. I was completely sceptical to do this but alas it worked a charm, and didn’t dry me out or give me any little pimples on the tops of my shoulders like some tans can.

As for the face, they’ve got this covered too. Vita Liberata began as a skincare line, so they’ve formulated a daily moisturiser that contains a hit of gradual tan. You know how most gradual tans take a few days to build? This one doesn’t, so go easy. Use every 4-5 days to maintain your colour and rest assured that after just one night you’ll notice a difference by morning. Again, this didn’t dry my skin or leave me with any pimples. A lovely bonus is that it smelled very sweet, almost like chocolate orange.

It’s a much more expensive tanning line for sure, but with good reason. No patches, no smell and no fuss. I am totally hooked on Vita Liberata.
