Bobbi Brown: a Harrods Wish List

From skin to make-up and brushes

For fuss-free, high-performance beauty, the natural starting point is Bobbi Brown. Her bases always manage to leave your skin looking like a more radiant version of itself and her neutrals make for the ultimate smouldering eye. But what else has she got to offer? I browsed the Harrods beauty hall to brush up on all things Bobbi and found a few new things to add to the wishlist…

Vitamin Enriched Face Base, £37.50
One of my favourite make-up tricks is to apply my foundation straight after my moisturiser. I find that working with slightly dewy skin gives me real ease when blending and helps everything to go on much more evenly. Bobbi’s alternative to this is to use the Vitamin Enriched Face Base under your foundation. An oil-free blend of shea butter and Vitamin C, this helps to plump and smooth any dryness or dehydration in the skin and helps to create a juicy, glowing base. As someone who works in the city, this is top of my list because the added Vitamin E will help to protect against free radicals like pollution.

Brightening Finishing Powder in Porcelain Pearl, £40.00
My Shimmer Brick is one of the most used items in my collection. Smoky eyes, brow bone highlighter, mixed in with blusher – whatever the occasion, I’ll find a way to use it. This finishing powder is slightly different, however, and merges finishing properties with a touch of brightening and even colour correcting. I’m hoping that this will be just the thing to help to neutralise the redness around my cheeks and nose.

Full Coverage Brush, £29.50
A make-up artist used this brush on me a couple of weeks ago and it has been high on my wishlist since. One of the things that I love about Bobbi’s Skin Foundation is that it goes on a dream regardless of whether I’ve used a brush or my fingers. With the Full Coverage Brush, however, it was polished up into a completely porcelain finish, plump and poreless. I’ll be keeping this to hand for midday touch ups and to buff out the seams of any contouring.

Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Espresso Ink, £17.50
Ask any industry insider and they will tell you that Bobbi is the reigning queen when it comes to gel eyeliner. Her Cobalt Ink is an absolute classic – it’s the darkest you’ll find, it doesn’t budge all day, and you can use it either to line the eyes or buff out a full smoky eye. After working my way through a number of jet black variations, next on my list is the Espresso shade. This dark chocolate brown will be just the thing to accentuate the blue of my eyes and still give them definition without quite to much intensity.

Face Touch Up Stick, £19.00
My average working day is fairly long, normally around 8-12 hours.  This in mind, by late afternoon my base is always in need of a touch up. Rather than having to carry a full foundation and brush, this stick looks like just the thing for an on-the-go girl. Used alone it can do just as it says on the tin, but I think I’d opt for another in 2 shades darker for a little contour here and there. If it’s anything like the Stick Foundation, the coverage will be stunning.
