Time to Unwind…

A Mind and Body Beauty Update

Although the aesthetic of beauty products can be wonderful - from changing up your nails to brightening your make-up - some of my favourite beauty indulgences are those that cleanse the mind and spirit.

I love spending time in the evenings to really unwind after a long day. Here are some of the newer things I’ve picked up that are working a charm to ease a relaxing, peaceful evening…

Aromatherapy Associates Inner Strength Oil, £40.00
A new blend from Aromatherapy Associates, this oil is designed to be positive and uplifting with hints of sage, frankincense and cardamom. Geraldine Howard, the co-founder of the brand, created this blend for herself to see her through a battle with cancer. Now, she’s released her magic formula and 10% of the proceeds from every purchase go towards the Foundation of Defence Against Cancer. What I love about this is that the heady scent travels all around the house once you’ve used it, and settling off to sleep is much easier post-soak. You can use this in shower but I save mine for a long, hot bath to really reap the benefits.

Zelens Aka Shiso Reviving Mineral Shower, £28.00
Zelens has managed to make a huge difference in my skin in a short space of time, so I’m getting it into my regime wherever I can at the moment. One of the things I’d recommend a newcomer to try is this shower gel. A really rich, heady blend, this leaves you feeling squeaky clean but also helps to really take away some of the stress of a long day. The key ingredient is Shiso Oil (Japanese mint) which contains the richest plant source of Omega-3 fatty acids, and since using this my skin feels softer and definitely more hydrated. What I find great about this is that it is really calming on hot skin, particularly if you’ve been on your feet all day. Use with a loofah and the tiniest squeeze will go over the body at least twice.

Elle MacPherson Heel Smoother, £19.99
If my feet are sore or in any discomfort I find it really hard to drift off. This heel smoother is just the thing to take care of tired, aching feet, and leave you in good stead for the rest of the evening. Post-shower, I like to take this over heels and the balls of my feet to remove any dead or hard skin. Then, I’ll take some Clarins Foot Beauty Treatment Cream, £23.00, and really work it in. The whole process is completely therapeutic and by morning my feet are light, refreshed and ready to go.

Rituals Chakra Water, £16.50
For a light, calming sleep, this is simply divine. Designed for bed and body, this fresh rose scent really brings a tranquility to your room. I’ll douse my bed and pillows with this and leave it to work for around 10 minutes before settling down. On return, the initial burst of scent has settled and you’re left with a soft, clean residue. What it works well for, too, is cooling the bed a little, so if you love a crisp cold pillow this is going to be your thing. Although I love the gentle nature of this spray, Rituals’ Happy Mist is slightly more uplifting and still my favourite of the two with zestier notes. I use one of the two most nights.

Rituals Honey Touch Rich and Nourishing Body Cream, £17.00
For me, moisturising the body is one of those mundane tasks that I give little thought to, but the scents of Rituals’ creams make it all a little more relaxing. This new blend merges rose and honey for a fresh and sweet finish. Use at night time for a rich, comforting ritual that will soothe the skin and mind (and the pot is huge so it will last you a lifetime).

Honey TOuch

As for candles? I’m not really using them now that the weather has started to warm up, but when I do I’m going for the Aromatherapy Associates Relax scent every time.
