Fail-safe products that everyone will love

As you may know, by day I work as a Personal Beauty Shopper. I pride myself on providing each guest with a completely tailored experience, but some products are just so universally brilliant that they crop up time and time again.

Here are five of the things that I just keep coming back to; five true beauty staples…

RMK Cleansing Balm, £29
If you love simple, fuss-free beauty, this is a total must-have. This rich, balmy rose formula is gentle enough to use even on the eyes and removes every scrap of make-up as it cleanses. Work this onto dry skin, feeling free to work it onto eye make-up, and take the time to really massage it in. You’ll find that all of your make-up has dissolved and your face feels clean and hydrated. What’s more? A huge tub comes in at £29, a bargain compared to others like it on the market.

RMK Cleansing Balm

Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Loose or Pressed, £22
This is the ultimate setting powder, whichever texture you opt for. What I love about this is that it comes in five shades, and although it is almost translucent it has the tiniest hint of colour. For this reason, it eradicates the risk of giving that greying sheen that white translucent powders can leave. It feels silky and invisible but keeps oil at bay – I simply love it.

Illamasqua Skin Base, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk and NARS Sheer Glow Foundations
Everyone seems to want that glowing, dewy skin look this summer, and as far as I’m concerned these are three of the top contenders. The sheerest of the three is Luminous Silk, £35.50, the most universal of the three is Sheer Glow, £31, and the bobby dazzler of glowing skin is Skin Base, £32. (Note: for whatever reason, Skin Base doesn’t seem to get on well with dry skin. For that reason it’s a real love or hate foundation.)

Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipsticks, £24
You’ll know by now that I am utterly obsessed with these. The long story short is that they team a rich, moisturising formula with a long-lasting pigment and the colour range is divine. As soon as I hear the word ‘lipstick’ I’ve adorned their hand with a sweep of Potent or Rebellious Rose as a must.

Ambitious Pink

Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner, £25
One of my aims as a Personal Beauty Shopper is to add one or two pieces to a client’s beauty regime that will enhance the way all of their current products work. This Clarins toner is one of those things. Use twice per week post-cleanse and your following products will really be able to penetrate the skin. Ditch the exfoliating beads, this is your new exfoliator.
