A sexy, festive make-up collection

When you browse your favourite beauty hall this Christmas, I want you to pay particular attention to Bobbi Brown.

Everyone is offering limited edition collections, complete with lavish packaging and ornate gift wrap, but no one is doing it quite so sophisticatedly as Bobbi.

Her Scotch on the Rocks collection is the most lavish, sexy mixture of full reds, shimmering golds and smoky browns. It will look gorgeous on everyone and you won’t go wrong for choosing a Christmas gift. Here’s the low down…

Warm Glow Eye Palette, £59.00
One of my favourite picks for an amazing Christmas gift this year, I simply can’t imagine anyone that wouldn’t love this palette. Firstly the packaging is just out of this world. The case is like something from a lavish 40’s dresser, a heavy yet tiny compact with a faux crocodile skin case and golden clasp. Inside you have a generous mirror in one half and nine neutral shades in the other. Perfect for creating day to night looks, why this works so well is that it merges glitter and shimmer shades with staple chocolatey mattes. Take the matte shades in the corners and contour of your eye and save glitter for the lids.

Lip Color, £22.00
On first look, some of the shimmer lipstick shades weren’t quite my cup of tea. I reached for the deep red and warm plum shades (both brilliant and universally flattering – Bordeaux is the standout) and took my time trying the shimmers. But what I found was that the shimmer shades were really plumping – think of the effect you get from a high shine gloss. If nude lips are your thing at the moment then these will work well to add depth as well as colour. The packaging is gorgeous, gold and luxurious, and the shape of the bullet allows the lipstick to glide on really neatly without a lip pencil.

Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Scotch, £18.00
Make-up artists widely hail Bobbi Brown’s classic black gel liner as the blackest around – I’m always recommending it at work. So this twist on the classic was one of the most exciting parts of the range for me. A slightly smokier, off black, this is fused with golden shimmer and comes up much lighter than it’s counterpart. If you want a black liner, this won’t be for you. What it is perfect for is adding depth and smokiness to eyes without any sharp black lines. Take a soft pointed brush (MAC’s 219 will be perfect) and use this to create a smudgy line above and below the lashes. It blends really well and is just the thing for anyone who wants to master liner but struggles with precise lines.

Nail Varnish, £11.00
Have you tried Bobbi’s nail varnish before? You’re looking at a full week chip-free. These two new shades are both timeless, and worn together (polish with shimmer on top) they make for a decadent autumn manicure. At £11.00 they’re really competitively priced compared to other high end lacquers and the quality is unrivalled.

Kate Upton Scotch on the Rocks

Scotch on the Rocks is my favourite limited edition collection from Bobbi in a very long time. She’s managed to capture a decadent, lavish period of time and even make a neutral palette – something the industry is seeing so much of at the moment – completely stand out.
