5 of the best fresh beauty updates

Now that spring is upon us, it's time to work some softer, vibrant colours into a classic smoky eye look. Here are 5 of my favourite things to add a fresh pop of colour to my make-up.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Eye Pencil, £16.50
Double Wear foundation is one of those cult products that everyone knows and loves, but have you tried any of the other Double Wear lines? Anything with the DW stamp says ‘long lasting’ to me, and these liners are no different. Buff a jewel toned shade like Night Violet (violet) or Emerald Volt (green) into the waterline and above and below the lashes, using the buffer at the end of the pencil to smudge the finish. What you’re left with is depth and definition but without the harsh finish of a classic black; a defined spring eye.

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Precision Glide Eye Liner, £17.00
Elizabeth Arden have been injecting more colour into their new collections and these new liners are among the best examples of their vibrant new direction. A very creamy formula, again these can be used on the water line or lash line to add depth but the beauty is that they will smudge effortlessly even with the buff of a finger.

Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette, £56.00
The new eyeshadow palettes from Hourglass are ridiculously beautiful. Each variation teams core neutrals with a few wild card shades, meaning that you can update your classic look with a pop of colour. Try any of these for an update on your spring look. My favourite is the Monochrome palette.

Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks, £22.00
I don’t know about you but everything I put on my eyes creases or runs if I don’t use a primer. Everything, that is, but these Caviar Sticks. Buff this over the lids and under the lash line and blend the edges out with your finger. It creates the quickest, longest lasting smoky eye you will find. Key shades: Copper, Orchid and Burnished Bronze.

RMK Double Headed W Colour Mascara, £25.00
If you’re feeling brave when it comes to lashes, these double ended RMK mascaras are beautiful. With a number of colour combinations to choose from, my personal favourite is the pink and blue variation. Team the blue with greens and purples and add a deep liner to add definition to the pink.
