Beauty on a budget

In beauty, sometimes it isn't always true that you get what you pay for. Some of my favourite brands are cheaper than most and yet have total beauty gems in the line up. Here are some of the loveliest spring releases I've seen that won't break the bank...

3 New Shades! Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks, £8.99

I’m not the biggest fan of anything matte, but these are a total exception because they’re silky and lightweight, meaning no dry, cakey finish in sight. I wear these a lot, especially when I want to wear a bright lip shade because I know they’re not going to move or bleed. The three new shades are all bright, feminine and statement enough to team with simply a flick of mascara. (How cute is this ring by the way? I got it from my favourite Laura Gravestock.)

Prefer something glossier? You’ll love…

3 New Shades! Bourjois Color Boost, £7.99

These glossy, thick lip sticks are so handy to have in your handbag. The colours are sheer in texture but still fairly rich in pigment and they just feel so comfortable on. It’s one of the few glossy finish lip products that doesn’t equate to a major ball ache when your hair blows into it.

The Body Shop Camomile Eye and Lip Remover, £8

Ok this isn’t new, but it’s something I buy over and over again and just can’t beat. This is one of the gentlest eye make-up removers I’ve used and it melts away all of your eye or lip make-up in one go. Recently I’ve been wearing much more bright lipstick shades and although my cleansing balm could melt them away I don’t want to stain my flannels. It’s a quick, easy step before your main cleanse to get the bulk of your colour off.

Eylure Brow Crayon, £6.45

Famed for lashes, Eylure have ventured into brows now and they’re doing so really well. The Brow Crayon will go down well with Anastasia Brow Wizz lovers only the pencil gets much thicker once you’ve used it a few times. It gives a fluffy, natural finish if you go in gently but you can build it up to create a very sculpted, groomed brow too.

Collection Field Day Lipsticks, £2.99

Simple and sweet, Collection have brought out three new pretty pinks for spring. The matte variations are lovely, worth experimenting with if you’re normally more of a creamy or glossy lip wearer.

Topshop Contour Cream, £9

Every time I scroll my Instagram feed I see something new about contouring. It’s all I’m being asked about at work, too. These new little contour palettes are great for anyone who wants to dip into contouring because they’re really easy to blend. Start gently as you apply it – I smudge the product on with fingers then buff out with a brush – and gently add more product to build your desired finish. The cream formula is great for anyone who likes to blend contour shades into foundation and leave the skin with a fresh finish.

Elegant Touch Stick On Nails, £7.95

I love nail art patterns but truthfully I haven’t always got the steadiest hand. These Eylure stick on nails are brilliant for adding an extra something to a plain outfit or simply when you’re in between manicures. I like that the glue is good and firm; once they’re on they’ll last the night. The Easter special edition nails are ridiculously cute – chickens and decorated eggs among the patterns!
