Every new scent

Yesterday I caught up with Jo Malone to discover everything we have coming up for the spring and summer of 2016. What ensued was a very colourful offering!

Limited Edition Nashi Blossom, £44 for 30ml and £89 for 100ml
One of my favourite Jo Malone scents in a long time, Nashi Blossom is very clean and pretty. A mixture of white blossoms and fruit, this scent really captures the beauty of spring. There is a sweetness to this fragrance with notes like pear and apple, but sharper notes like lemon and rose give this a sophisticated finish. I think this is going to appeal to a variety of Jo Malone lovers, but in particular I would imagine that anyone who wears Peony & Blush Suede will want to try this. What really makes this stand out is the beautiful bottle. Inspired by the nashi flower, the bottle is polka dotted in a black and white print and topped with a bright lime green lid. It is absolute dressing table heaven. Available from May 2016.

Tasting notes: top note of Lemon, heart note of Nashi Blossom and base note of White Musk.

Black Cedarwood & Juniper, £42 for 30ml and £86 for 100ml
A really sexy scent, I think men are especially going to love this and that both will wear it as an evening fragrance. A woody, spicy mix, this is earthy and dark. The suggested fragrance combinations are Lime Basil & Mandarin to add freshness, or Wood Sage & Sea Salt for anyone who wishes to enhance the woody undertones. At the moment I don’t think there is a fragrance in the range that could compare to this, but I would say that Pomegranate Noir fans are going to want to try it. Available from June 2016.

Tasting notes: top note of Cumin, heart note of Juniper and base note of Black Cedarwood.

Judy Blame for Jo Malone London, complimentary wrap with any 100ml bottle
To add some charm to the traditional Jo Malone London packaging, designer Judy Blame has created a new wrap design which will run for a limited time in selected doors. Selfridges, the Regent Street boutique and Jo Malone online will be the only destinations for the wrap. A buttoned design, there will be four boxes to choose from and button print for all of the ribbon, with additional stickers to customise any 100ml fragrance. Available from June 2016.

Summer Afternoon: Limited Edition Marthe Armitage Home Collection
Marthe Armitage is an artist and wallpaper designer who has been living and working in London for 60 years. Marthe makes wallpaper entirely by hand, creating unique prints and designs for each project. Her inspiration for this collection is based on the notes of Jo Malone’s fragrance collection and the fact that Henry James believed that the two happiest words in the English language were “summer afternoon”. Her hand printed designs will be featured on her collection pieces and the box itself.

The collection features a first as we will have the Nectarine Blossom & Honey scent available in a Bath Oil. Scented Drawer Liners will be available in the clean, pretty Red Roses scent. For me the absolute capture of a green garden is the Green Tomato Leaf candle which will be encased in a beautiful print by Marthe. And finally a collection of four soaps in best-selling scents – Blackberry & Bay, English Pear & Freesia, Lime Basil & Mandarin and Pomegranate Noir. Available from June 2016.

Charity Candle in Peony & Moss, price TBC
An earthy, warm candle, the print of this is exquisite as always. I love to burn the Jo Malone charity candles to the bottom and then use the jars to hold my make-up brushes. For the first time this year, charity proceeds are slightly less from this candle but it will be staying as part of the collection all year round so in the long run the charitable donation will be larger. Do take a look at the Charity Gardens initiative on the website, it’s a great project.
