Inspired by Into The Gloss

My day was made when the team at Into The Gloss reached out to me a few days ago, asking my opinion about which serums I’d been loving recently.

In case you haven’t seen their website, it’s total beauty junkie heaven, one of my all time favourites. They do this amazing feature called The Top Shelf where they ask people about their most used and loved products, and guests have included Bobbi Brown and Jourdan Dunn. I don’t know about you, but I love hearing what other people like to use and picking up tips along the way. Also, they’re the brains behind the new Glossier brand which you can’t move for seeing praise for on Instagram!

Anyway – back to business, here are the serums that I’m loving at the moment.

Favourite Serums

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair, £50
This, to me, is the ultimate serum. I remember the first time I met Alessandra Steinherr, Glamour UK’s Beauty Director, and I asked her what her very favourite product was. She told me it was this and I started using it religiously from then. A tip one of the counter girls taught me is that half way through the day this works miracles to revive drying, caking make-up. Simply rub it into the hands and press it into the skin, straight over make-up, to inject some hydration and glow to your make-up. As for skincare I use twice a day, morning and night.

Clarins HydraQuench Serum, £44
During the winter or during a killer of a hangover, this is always my go-to serum. HydraQuench is one of the most hydrating skin remedies I’ve ever tried, flooding the skin with lasting moisture in an instant. The texture of this is quite strange; it’s very runny and thin, a hybrid of water and oils. If your skin is dry you’ll really love this, and used as a continuous treatment you’ll see a marked improvement in the softness and plumpness of your skin. I use this intermittently when my skin really needs it, for example the morning after a great night out!

Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst-Quenching Serum, £29
Caudalie’s grape based skincare is always very calming on my red-prone skin. Why I love this serum is that it hydrates the skin, but at the same time helps to take down my redness. Compared to the Clarins serum the texture of this is slightly richer and creamier. For this reason, it works well alone or under a moisturiser. It’s slightly lower in cost than the Clarins serum so this is more of an everyday choice for me and I save my Clarins for those instant-fix moments.

Caudalie Vinosource SOS Serum

Cosmetics 27 Essence 27 Serum, £85
Essence 27 is my favourite serum to combat the effects of city living. It contains 27 active ingredients which means it manages to tackle a number of skin concerns in one. For example, you’ll get your Hyaluronic Acid which holds 1000x its own weight in water and keeps your skin hydrated. The Vitamin C will help to protect against environmental aggressors like UV damage and pollution. I find my skin plump and even in complexion after using this; it’s like an extra hour of sleep in three drops. What I love about this is that with daily use I can trust that everything my skin needs is being delivered in one quick application.

Oskia Get Up & Glow Serum, £66
When I’ve been working a lot and not getting as much sleep as I’d like to, this Oskia serum is my fail-safe to perk up an early morning complexion. I love using this under my make-up to add luminosity to the skin, and even if I’m going bare faced for the day I find that it helps to enhance the radiance in my skin and counteracts any grey, sullen tones.
