The ultimate luxury beauty collection

Two weeks ago, I went to the Estee Lauder head office for training on the most exciting beauty launch of the year - Victoria Beckham for Estee Lauder.

Alongside my fellow Selfridges Birmingham beauty team and some of the team from Victoria’s Dover St store (all of whom were lovely), we had a masterclass on all things VBxEL from their Global Make-up Artist, Alan Pan. (Alan goes around the world visiting Estee Lauder counters and offers redeemable appointments. He is really well worth booking in with; he has the warmest, most infectious personality and teaches you how to perfect your make-up application.)

Now that the lid has been lifted on this best kept beauty secret, I am so excited to share my thoughts on the collection. Truly I think the products are wonderful.

Morning Aura Illuminating Creme, £68

This is my favourite piece from the collection. This illuminating fluid, part moisturiser, part primer, completely transforms dull or tired skin. Use alone for a healthy glow or under make-up to add radiance. Alan used this on ladies of various ages and I must note that on the more mature ladies this really added plumpness and luminosity to the skin. If you buy one thing, make it this.

Highlighter in Modern Mercury, £48

Estee Lauder faithful fans will remember this rose-gold highlighter from time gone by. Now discontinued, Victoria used to buy this on eBay because she loved it so much. She insisted it return as part of her collection. One of the reasons that she loves it is because it looks stunning on every skin tone.

Bronzer in Java Sun, £48

A lovely large bronzer, this is perfect for adding warmth to the parts of the skin where the sun would naturally hit.

Eye Palette, £68

I’m so pleased that Victoria has chosen a mixture of classic and daring shades for this palette. The colour line up is just stunning. I have lots of Estee Lauder eyeshadows and I love them (the Pure Color palettes are all divine) but this texture is completely unlike anything currently in the collection. Each shade is very pigmented; I’d recommend doing your eyes before your base.

Victoria has created four themed looks around this collection – LA, Paris, New York and London – so she will share her inspiration on how best to wear the shades. The girls and I at Selfridges Birmingham will be recreating the looks on each other just as soon as we have our testers and I’ll share the photos.

Eye Ink in Black Myrrh, £36

A great multi-use product, this shimmering black can be used as a liner, an eyeshadow or layered underneath eyeshadows to add depth.

Eye Foil in Burnt Anise and Blonde Gold, £28

These glossy metallic shades are ideal for adding a pop of colour on top of a smoky eye. My favourite is Blonde Gold which looks beautiful when used as an inner corner highlight on the eyes.

Eye Metals in Bitter Clove and Charred Emerald, £36

Luxury glamour at it’s best, these shimmering shadows can be applied with a finger or brush to create a quick and glamorous smoky eye.

Eye Kajal in Black Saffron/Vanille, £22

Such a simple product but by far one of the best in the line up. This dual liner is great however you like to wear your eyeliner. The black shade is very jet black and applies very creamy and wet. If you apply it and then buff it out with a soft brush, you get that lovely smudgy smoky effect with no harsh lines. A top tip; this dries quickly and when set it doesn’t move. A huge bonus for long-wear, but it means that you need to blend it quickly. Then, Vanille is a very peachy nude. Not only will this widen and brighten the eyes when applied to the water line, but the peach tone will help to counteract any redness that lots of tired eyes are prone to.

Lipsticks in Chilean Sunset and Brazilian Nude, £36

A classic pink nude and a brightening orange-red, these are fail safe and sexy.

Lip Gloss in Moroccan Heat, £28

Made to give a sexy, sweaty finish, this is plumping and glossy without being too overt.

Lip Pencil in Victoria, £22

Another small and sweet addition, this pinky nude should be on everyone’s VB wish list.

All encased in a black and gold packaging, I think the beautiful casing is half of the appeal. The compacts are inspired by a vintage cigarette holder that Victoria found, and each seals with a golden clasp. Paying the ultimate attention to detail, the gold of her casing exactly matches the gold on all of her handbags, making this the ultimate Victoria Beckham accessory.

A match made in heaven, I literally want it all and I really hope that this collaboration turns into something a little more permanent…

P.S Since I wrote this piece, I came home one day to THIS! A note from Victoria herself and some pieces from the collection. What a pinch me moment? If someone had told 7 year old me I would one day receive a letter to my home from a Spice Girl I don’t know what I would have done. Naturally, I’ve already framed it!
