Origins, Caudalie and more

With cold weather around the corner, here are some rich, nourishing skincare pieces I've been using this autumn.

Estee Lauder Revitalising Supreme + Wake Up Balm, £46
For those of you that like the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, this is one to try. This balm is a moisturising first step that leaves the skin incredibly plump and dewy. As well as hydrating and illuminating the skin, when used under make-up this provides day-long luminosity to the skin. If you didn’t manage to get enough sleep or your skin is looking a bit duller than usual this will help you to fake a well-rested look. On a more mature lady, this works especially well with the Lauder Perfectionist Foundation because they both add radiance.

Origins Original Skin Essence Lotion with Dual Ferment Complex, £22
Now that the weather is getting colder, I’m trying to lock more moisture into my skincare regime. Layered under moisturiser, this Essence Lotion from Origins is nourishing and hydrating. A liquid formula, this looks like a simple toner but is a lot richer in consistency, and perfect for me because over time it helps to reduce the appearance of pores. The entire Original Skin range is one that I get on well with. Designed for quarter-life skin, it is made to perk up stressed, under-slept and partied out complexions. The serum is also fantastic to brighten up dull-looking skin.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir Jason Wu edition, £11.50 (the same price as the original)
Speaking of locking in moisture, another firm favourite of mine is the Caudalie Beauty Elixir and has been for years. This heady mixture of plant oils makes the most uplifting facial mist, perfect to soothe and nourish the skin. I use this is a number of ways. You can use in between each skincare step to layer in moisture, use to set your make-up and revive it thorough the day, and even use on tired feet after a long day in heels (a tip straight from us girls in the beauty hall). Especially for fashion week, designer Jason Wu has created a stunning bottle with Caudalie, a great collector’s edition.

Pixi Glow Tonic To-Go, £16
You’ll know from reading my blog that I love Pixi’s Glow Tonic. An exfoliating toner, this gently adds radiance to even sensitive complexions. Now, Pixi have created this handy set of soaked pads, saving you from carrying a bottle of GT and a pack of cotton pads. Make-up artists take note: this is a kit essential.

Nip + Fab Hyaluronic Shot, £25
One of the best serums I’ve found this year, if you like hyaluronic acid then you’re going to want to try this. Hyaluronic acid is an ingredient that can hold up to x 1000 it’s own weight in water. What this means is that when layered into your skincare regime it retains the moisture more powerfully, equating to hydrated skin and make-up that lasts all day. Use this as a shot of moisture in your favourite serum to boost the hydrating power, or use alone to perk up hungover skin in an instant. At full price this is £25 but I keep seeing it on 1/2 price so have a look around before you buy. The last place I noticed this offer was at Superdrug.

Bobbi Brown Extra Nourishing Repair Milk, £54
If you’ve ever had a beauty consultation with me I’ll have sent you home with the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream whether you needed an eye cream or not. Now, in the same range comes a Nourishing Repair Milk and if you’re dry like me you’re going to LOVE it! Richer than a lotion but less heavy than an oil, this sits beautifully under make-up and adds intense hydration. I’ve been using it twice a day and my skin feels hydrated and soft. Use this just under your moisturiser or (as I do) instead of it.

Estee Lauder Revitalising Supreme +, £48
Revitalising Supreme is a great moisturiser for those who wish to target a number of skin concerns. It uses a special technology to release active ingredients that your skin needs; for example it will provide extra hydration for dry skin or work to soothe redness in irritated skin. If, like me, you have a number of skin concerns at any one time, this is a great nourishing and multi-tasking option. This is very much tailored towards plumping fine lines and wrinkles, however it works well even if this isn’t your main point of concern.
