For the past few appointments, Maxine my colourist has been trying to improve the condition of my hair. I love having blonde highlights so she mixes Smart Bonds into my colour to strengthen my hair as we work.
The last time Maxine had touched my colour was 3 months ago. I’d had a low maintenance balyage style colour and as a result it didn’t matter here or there how my colour was growing out. However, my ends had become dry from constant styling and I felt as though I needed a good cut to tidy things up plus a bit of a colour refresh.
Here’s how I turned up yesterday…
And here’s how I left!
We were both in agreement that I wanted to be more blonde but still retain all of the good work we’d done to improve the condition of my hair. Maxine did her usual technique of mixing Smart Bonds into my colour, then applied more to my hair after my first shampoo, toned everything down, and worked a deep conditioning mask into my hair before I went for my blow dry.
One of the things that she specialises in is repairing over processed, damaged hair and finding solutions for people to continue to wear the colour that they want but in a way that won’t cause any further damage. Even if you aren’t local to London, a few visits to her would help you to get your hair into a routine that works that you can then carry on from wherever is local to you. Put it this way – she does such a lovely job of mine that I didn’t bat an eyelid getting a 6.10am train from Birmingham yesterday to see her.
After my colour was complete, Bobby cut my hair. It was the first time I’d met him and he created such a lovely, soft cut for me, completely listening to all of my needs. In short, I wanted minimal ends taken off and a cut that didn’t look too cut. I’m not sure how he achieved this, but he managed to take an inch of dead ends from my hair and somehow make it look longer than it did when I arrived.
The best bit about going to Hershesons is that everyone seems to know how to make you look infinitely glamorous without having tried too hard.
For a colour remedy, a cut that lasts for months or even a blow dry that will see you through hell or high water, be sure to visit the Conduit Street salon in London or the Blow Dry Bar at Selfridges in Birmingham.
