5 new things to make your complexion shine

Adding a touch of glow to your everyday make-up regime can be just the thing to resurrect a well-loved make-up bag. Here are 5 of my favourite spring launches that will enable you to transform your skin in one small step.

Bobbi Brown Limited Edition Highlighter in Opal Glow, £35.50

Though highlighter is one of my favourite ever products, the wide variety of them on the market means that you have to choose carefully. Used wisely, with a sheer consistency and in the right places, highlighter can illuminate the skin and add youth. Used heavily, highlighter can leave a grubby sheen to the skin and emphasise laughter lines. Bobbi Brown’s Opal is so majestic in light texture and subtle shine that it lifts the complexion without sitting heavily at all. Suitable for all complexions and ages, this will be especially flattering on anyone with slightly more mature skin as it doesn’t gather in lines. It gives a soft pink sheen, subtle enough to use all over the face but present enough to add a pop to your blusher. Also noteworthy: the clean, elegant white packaging.

Pixi Glow Tonic, from £5

I read a report this week from My Market Insight that said Pixi Glow Tonic had the most PR mentions of any beauty product in 2017. I’m not at all surprised, and I think the widespread coverage is a great testament to how universal this is. A toner that gently exfoliates dull, dead skin as it works, slotting this into your routine will help you to unveil fresh, glowing skin over time. You won’t see results overnight, but use steadily and your skin will look and feel radiant.

Charlotte Tilbury Brightening Youth Glow, £38.50

One of my all time favourite products is Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonder Glow, a luminous golden balm that can be used alone to soften the complexion or under foundation to make it glow. For me, what makes this special is the hydrating texture and the almost-filtered finish it gives the skin. Now, Charlotte has created a colour-correcting version of this. Brightening Youth Glow is white in colour, working to brighten the complexion and counteract any discolouration by way of redness, pigmentation or anything in between.

Tom Ford Radiant Moisture Souffle, £70

If you want something a little richer in texture, this jar of luminosity from Tom Ford will be for you. The soufflé offers a whipped texture, melting effortlessly into the skin and moisturising as it imparts a glow. Use alone for a lit-from-within no make-up day or under your foundation to alleviate dry patches and add lustre.

MAC Cosmetics Coconut Fix Plus Spray, £18

Last summer, MAC released limited flavours in their iconic Fix + spray, a spray designed to hold make-up in place, resurrect a dry complexion and add luminosity. One of my favourites was the coconut scent, and now all flavours are back for good. Just one spritz will boast all of the above qualities whilst at the same time whisking you to a beach with a holiday cocktail. The coconut scent is happiness in a bottle. Also available in Rose, Lavender and the original scent-free formula.
