Colourful finds for the summer

This year we've had such a colourful year in terms of new make-up launches. Here are some of my favourite high-street finds that can help you to play up your make-up bag without breaking the bank...

Sanctuary Spa 3 Day Long Lasting Moisture Shower Burst, £7 for 200ml

Personally I shower so much more during the summer, often twice a day in the warm weather. This in mind, I’m more conscious of my shower products to keep my skin hydrated. This foaming cleanser from Sanctuary Spa is such a lavish treat. A small pump goes really far, working into a rich lather that will cover the whole body. It is silkier than your average shaving foam, and slightly more whipped in texture, but with the same soft feeling. There is almond oil in the formula so skin feels softer after use, and this comes in a variety of scents.

Sanctuary Spa Wet Skin Moisture Miracle, £8.00 for 200ml

This has quickly become one of my favourite products of the summer because it is so quick and easy to use. I’m not sure about you, but I really have to force myself to moisturise my body. I don’t know why because my skincare routine is detailed to the point of insanity, but body care just falls to the bottom of my list. This in mind, I LOVE this body moisturiser. Applied directly to wet skin from the shower, this locks in moisture and helps to create a soft, balmy sheen as it dries into your skin. Plus, the dampness of your skin gives enough slip to apply so much more easily and quickly than you would rub a cream into dry skin. It’s a lazy girl’s post-shower dream.

Ciate Dewy Spritz Spray, £22

I keep seeing make-up artists on Instagram mixing pigment with their MAC Fix Plus spray to create an illuminating setting spray. Ciate have created something similar, but it’s already pre-mixed and ready to go! This beautiful mist is a real summer hero, setting your make-up and adding a veil of iridescent pink, just enough to make the complexion glow. So worth trying!

Models Own Cheat Day Eyeshadow Palette, £14.99

This is one of my favourite high-street launches of the summer. A cute, sweetie-themed palette, this is actually much more sensible than it looks, with 16 eyeshadow shades each in flattering, golden hues. They blend easily and create classic, sexy make-up.

Models Own Cheat Day Lip Glaze, £7.99

There’s quite a trend at the moment for pearly lips, a kind of opaque shimmer finish. If this is something you want to experiment with without breaking the bank, these Lip Glazes are perfect.

Models Own Cheek Glaze, £14.99

Highlighted skin is one trend that is certainly not going anywhere, and this palette offers three different illuminators, great for use alone or layered over your favourite blusher.

Nip & Fab Eyeshadow Palette in Fired Up, £12.95

I’m a huge believer in using slightly warmer colours around the eyes because reds and oranges make every eye colour pop. This in mind, this palette from Nip & Fab is absolutely perfect. All of these shades work in perfect harmony with each other and give all eye colours a piercing glow. There’s a great mixture of matte and shimmer shades in here too.

Nip & Fab Blushed Brights Palette, £8.95

As you mix up your lipstick, you’ll want a blush to match. At great value for the quality of the products, this blusher palette is ideal if you like to switch your colours a lot.

Nip & Fab Bronzer Palette, £8.95

Likewise, if bronzing is your ticket, this palette offers two bronze illuminators and two matte bronzers. Used together you can achieve anything from a subtle glow to a totally jaw-dropping shimmer.

NYX Honey Dew Me Up Primer, £15

Sealing everything in place is important, especially now that the weather is so warm. This new primer from NYX gives the skin an illuminated, healthy glow and holds your make-up for the day. The light reflecting gold is designed to reduce the appearance of redness.

Kiko Candy Split, from £2.90 now in the sale

There are so many sweet themed products launching recently, and these little Kiko cuties are among them. With a selection of brighter colours and unusual textures, again these are a lovely option for anyone that wishes to try a bold trend without spending lots of money to do so. I like to pay less with my experimental beauty and splurge on the die hards that I know I’ll love and use to the last drop.

Ciate Glitter Flips, £17

And as festival season approaches, you might like to give these Glitter Flips a go. These liquid lipsticks apply as usual and dry to a semi-matte finish. Then, you press your lips together firmly, and on impact a soft glitter sheen is released! The result is a completely glittery lip finish with none of the drop down. It’s so clever.

NYX Holographic Halo Shimmer Sticks, £6.30 in the sale at the time of writing

Seeing as highlighted skin is still such an important beauty trend, people are pushing the boundaries of how to make it work. One of the trends I keep seeing is an almost celestial, other-wordly type glow. If this is for you, you’ll LOVE these Halo sticks from NYX. Imparting an iridescent sheen, these look stunning on bare skin with a few drawn on freckles for fresh and beautiful beauty.
