A few cute things to shake off the January blues

Perhaps one of the most highly awaited days in the year, January pay day is upon us! If you want a little treat to shake away the winter blues, here are a few things I've been using and loving...

Cher Webb x Townhouse Manicure

My friend Cher has collaborated with Townhouse, a lovely nail salon on Great Portland Street in London, to create three limited edition nail art designs in time for Valentine’s Day. I’ve had my nails done at Townhouse several times now and they have the most unbelievably precise attention to detail when it comes to nails. Never have I had so many compliments on my cute little Avec Amour mani!

Gatineau Floracil Make-up Remover

A total cult hero on QVC, the Gatineau Floracil make-up remover caused quite the stir when it was discontinued. Gatineau listened to the many people who wanted to bring it back, and decided to return it in this enormous bottle. A simple, gentle eye make-up remover, this melts away every inch of eye make-up and is so soothing on the eyes.

I wear contact lenses and I always wear lots of eye make-up, so by the end of a long day I really want a bit of a cooling treatment as well as to remove my make-up. What I really love about this is the dispenser, which imparts just the right amount of remover for each eye and means that you don’t end up wasting product like I always do when I pour my own measures.

Goutal Hand Creams

Fragrance house Goutal have created a luxurious new hand care collection with three softening new hand creams. My favourite is the Oriental fragrance, infused with warming amber to create a soft, rich and cosy scent.

Origins Drink Up Intensive Mask

It always makes me nervous when one of my favourite products is reformulated. Why fix what isn’t broken? So when I heard that the Origins Drink Up Intensive mask was having a makeover, I hoped it wouldn’t be too extreme. I’ve used this mask for years. Luckily for us, the same sweet smelling, creamy, instantly hydrating formula has simply been infused with even more goodness to create the ultimate overnight overhaul. In terms of user experience I’d say the formula is now a tiny bit thicker, but other than that you won’t find much difference.

Bronzie Tan Your Own Freckles Stencil

I LOVE the look of freckles and wish I had more of them, so one of my favourite tools is the new stencil from Bronzie. You simply lay this over your finished make-up and either use powder or creams to to gently buff freckles into the skin. I find this works really well using a cream bronzer like the deeper shade in the Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate. If you like to wear quite a full coverage foundation but don’t want to look completely covered, this is great way to cheat the illusion of having less make-up on.

MAC Cream Colour Base in Hush

A classic highlighter that has been around for years, this cream makes your skin glow like no other. I’ve been using this soft, peachy cream as my highlighter all month and never had so many comments on my skin. Use it on cheekbones, down the nose, a little on the forehead, anywhere you want to look naturally luminous. This is highlighter for people who don’t want to look like they’re wearing highlighter.
